I was given a position that was "temp to hire". I was told I would be hired after 6 weeks and that there was no reason with my job experience that I wouldn't be. My performance at the job was good and no one ever said anything negative about what I did.
After close to 4 months, I received a call halfway down the road after work and I almost wrecked when I heard the voicemail. My assignment was completed and I was not to report back Monday. A vague message with no explanation as to why this was dragged out for so long without hire or even what was going to happen with my future employment. I tried to call right back when I could stop and conveniently there was no answer.
There was a follow up email, still with no explanation. I responded to that as well and have not received a response.
I contacted the owner of the place I was stationed at. She stated that she had decided to hire the previous employee back and it sounded like she had made that decision awhile ago.
I stopped applying for other jobs and turned down job offers for this position with the promise that it would become permanent. Now, I'm sitting here scrambling for a source of income because I was unprepared and blind-sided.
Not only was this morally wrong, I also question the legality. Seems like it would classify as fraud. As soon as they knew I was not being hired, I should have received communication from the office of my last day of assignment so I could start looking for appropriate work.
If you go here, tread carefully. Unless you would like to end up like me, manipulated and unemployed due to no fault of your own.
Response to Spherion's response Greg left me a message at 2:38 on Monday, according to the time stamp on the missed call. Stated he would be in and out of meetings for the rest of the day. This gave me a slim time window in which to reach him that day as the office closes at 5 and communication would clearly be spotty. He gave me no direct number in which to reach him as he said he would be traveling for the rest of the week. With no definitive number to reach him at, I found his email and attempted to schedule a specific time in which I could make myself available between my job search to discuss what he would like to discuss. Upon which, I have not received any response.
At no point in his message did he specify that he was looking for additional clients for me. He stated he would like to discuss this review. In addition, trust has been broken with this company and JD Engraving as no one is taking responsibility for the manipulation that I experienced. All I have experienced is two companies pointing their fingers at each other instead of taking responsibility for the mistakes made and how it has affected my life. Leaving me reasonably stressed, anxious and feeling conned.
No compensation for lost wages or emotional damages offered even though I had not been searching for work due to the promise this position was permanent. A decision was agreed to be made after 6 weeks and was not fulfilled. As such and due to the communication that "companies often take their time making things official" I had assumed I had a permanent job and the owner simply did not have time for the formalities as of yet.
I could have had a job lined up if these companies had been honest. That was nearly 4 months I could have been searching for work on the weekends that is now lost.
There is nothing wrong with offering a temporary job. There is something wrong with the dishonesty and blatant disregard for...
Read moreHello to all reading this review. I initially contacted Spherion about setting up a time for my good friend to stop in and apply for a job. Consequently, I called to set up the interview. I was greeted by a worker. He was very cordial on the phone. He spoke well, explained the initial process well, and then scheduled a time for my friend and I to stop down to the Canons burg office.
We arrived and were initially greeted by Kourtnery and Robert Initially I could feel their enthusiasm for their job. I could sense that these positive vibes, were going to be antecedent factors, that would manifest themselves into an amazing experience.
The Office was very clean, warm and inviting. Kourtney and her co worker started the process off by having my friend fill out some information on a computer. Then my friend sat down at the desk of Kourtney. Her knowledge of her craft, her professionalism, and her desire to get to know the client and their particular needs.
Were very edifying, efficacious, and exhorting to the experience. Its makes clients feel good when the person assisting them is on their side., At one point during the dialogue 2 customers walked into the location.
Kourtney immediately greeted, and briefly articulated some information to the clients in Spanish. Then went right back to English.. The transition was very prolific. The co worker was able to assist the 2 clients.
I was able to sit back and view each worker at Spherion in action if you will. The most advantageous factor was their self confidence in clients, and their confidence for their company. They wanted to help the clients utilize all their talents, and place them in a position that fit their skill levels.
I inextricably, incontrovertibly, and unequivocally would recommend this company. Its was like meeting and old friend from many years back. Like you know them for a long time. It wasn't stuffy or rigid like some office can be, If professionalism, desire to help clients, knowledge of their craft, hospitality, and the way they treat people with dignity and respect were -electricity. Then they would be a nuclear power plant. Keep making those client...
