Agility Boulders — Local services in Capitola

Ive been a member here for about 6 months now. The problems are rotated frequently, there are lots packed into the small space. Whether the problems are easy or hard they are all interesting and fun, the setting is creative and varied. The holds are lovely and are rotated frequently enough to where they never get too gunked up; and different colors have different textures which I like a lot. There is a great community of regulars who come through as well as lots of new climbers and families. It can feel a bit cramped during the busiest hours but usually not unpleasant. Gym and locker rooms are always very clean. Pricing is fair, BUT I dont think this could suffice as your only gym membership if you need a more traditional work-out. They have a bench, squat rack, and rowing machine tucked away but it would be KILLER if they added a couple more benches, racks, and a set of dumbells in the large...

I was visiting from Vegas, and stopped in to try out Agility. We have world class sandstone in Vegas, but our gyms are quite lacking. THIS GYM is everything that's missing from my (gym) life. Thoughtful, thought-provoking setting. Problems ranging from easy to V7 (and then a handful of V-Hard problems). The grades feel realistic. The facility is new and clean and beautiful. The staff are super friendly and engaged. And perhaps best of all, they've put a lot of thought into how to create zones appropriate for families (read: children) and spaces for the rest of us who want to climb hard. Well done folks. I'll certainly be back next time...

For those that climb we all know gyms can carry either an open and inclusive vibe or a closed off exclusive vibe. John and his entire staff and team create an atmosphere that is so welcoming from the moment you walk in. They make you feel like everyone is part of the tribe.
