Buyer beware. This store only takes exchanges for electronics, apparently. The wording on the receipt is misleading. It makes it sounds like you can exchange items for store credit, and return electronics for a refund. Not so. On my most recent visit, I bought an arm load of clothes because I’m trying to get a new job. I didnt try them on in the store because I didn’t understand that they don’t do exchanges. The no-returns policy is not clearly stated anywhere that I could see. Several clothes didn’t fit and I brought them back the next day. I noticed when examining my receipt that I was overcharged one item. Clerk argued with me about the return. I apologized and stated I had misunderstood the policy. I asked for leniency because I am out of work and trying to get a new job. They acted like exchanging clothing items would break their bank. Freaking ridiculous considering they get all these items donated for free. She even had the audacity to question that the items that I had chosen for a potential new job were not good enough.
The lady in front of me in line had picked out a large paining that was honestly quite ugly, I’m guessing she wanted it just because it had a nice gilded frame. Well, it had some kind of special tag on the back she hadn’t seen, and apparently cost a lot more than the posted price on the wall. Clerk argued with her on it too, so the customer left the painting and walked out. Honestly, if I had been that clerk, I would’ve just given it to her at the normal price to get rid of it. There are so many large pictures in stock in this store all the time, a few bucks isn’t going to hurt them.
Clerks here are rude, unfriendly, and argumentative, like they hate their jobs. Since almost no clothes here have a price tag, they will argue about where the item should’ve been located. At the end of the day, they will constantly nag and round up all the customers into one massive line. I get that they want to go home, but what is the point of making a line 30 customers long when you’re only operating one register? Might as well let some people keep browsing while they’re waiting to check out. You might actually sell more things that way and not have to resort to ripping people off. But what the heck do I know?
This store does have some cool things. But unfortunately my most recent experience with the stubborn argumentative clerk ruined it for me. My suggestion if you shop here is to only buy a couple of things at a time. If you buy a whole bunch of stuff at once, they will sneak in an incorrect charge and hope you don’t notice. The other reviews here stating the same thing are a testament to that. Makes me wonder how many times that happens every day to people who don’t notice.
There are plenty of other small independent thrift stores in Carson that are much more pleasant to shop than this one. Customer service here is utter garbage. I left here practically in tears because of the way I was treated. Why in the world would a nonprofit who claims to be helping battered women and children treat women customers so badly?? I will literally never set foot in this store ever again. Buyer beware, and watch the clerk closely when they’re ringing up...
Read moreIt seems most all business's I've dealt with lately have gone up in price since the virus started. However Classy Seconds prices have pretty much stayed the same. I like this place a lot. I normally will not give any thrift store 5 stars for even if their prices have stayed the same because as far as I'm concerned I feel these items were given 2 them so whatever price they put in their items mist are still iver priced. I possibly might have given Classy Seconds 5 stars if I hadn't if been there Saturday. I was in the section they have for the clothing that are a bit higher in price. Most of those items prices were the same as b4 the virus, HOWEVER, there were 2 items in there that floored me 4 when I saw a $45.00 price tag & then a $70.00 price tag on those 2 dresses I was absolutely floored. These are used dresses given 2 them so those less fortunate have an opportunity 2 purchase & wear that they normally would not be able 2 get. Well at those prices, they more then likely could still not get either of them at those prices. Now they had beautiful Wedding gowns there for $75.00 & that price is good & most ppl would expect to pay that 4 as used gown, YET these were not Wedding gowns. I realize all business'es need 2 make a profit yet this is out of line in my view. So 4 the most part I was sad 2 see they priced these dresses so high. The higher priced dress for $70- did not have a label 2 even show who made it, 4 it was cut off. The normal price 4 their higher quality clothes runs aroun. Due 3 this I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. 10/12/14/16/-$20.00. One could even expect 2 pay $25-$30- for certain stresses yet this was REDICULOUS & out of line. Ever since Goodwill started carrying some new items they have gone higher in many of their prices so usually I shop at Salvation Army or Classy Seconds. I still go 2 GW yet not as...
Read moreI have made multiple donations to classy seconds, and have shopped with them as well. I have never minded the prices, because I knew it was going to support victims of domestic volence, so I felt like between my donations and purchases, I was supporting a good cause. I had a recent large donation to make after spring cleaning, and had called ahead to see what the drop off hours were, thinking there may be some restrictions/different hours due to COVID. I was told you can drop off until 5PM. I have a 30 minute drive to get to classy seconds. I left work early to get there before 5pm, and arrived at 4:45pm. I saw the sign that listed the donation hours as I pulled in. It was posted that you can drop off until 5pm. When I exited my vehicle, no one greeted me. A man seemed agitated as he walked towards my vehicle and kind of paced behind my trunk. I looked at him, wondering if he worked there, and said "hello". Yes, I greeted him. Should have been the other way around. He said "Ma'am, in the future, if you are going to arrive so close to 5PM, you need to call ahead". I stated that I did, and was told to get there by 5pm. He seemed annoyed that I was told that by someone that worked there, and grabbed a bag of my stuff. He then walked off, told someone he needed help, and never came back. I unloaded my stuff, and left. What a way to be treated when you are trying to support a good cause. People do not have to donate to you, we do have a choice, and you should show some appreciation. I will not go out of my way any longer to support the cause that classy seconds is there to be an advocate for. I will no longer donate, or shop there. My business will be given to those who earn and appreciate it, and there are certainly other causes I...
