If there were negative stars, I would post it. After begging the owner, to please help me out of desperation, to save 2 extremely tamed feral cats that I've worked with for almost a year, from my neighbors that threatened to poison them. Under the stipulation of giving her a donation, food, and pay for all of their care as long as she had them. Also, said I would take them back if she couldn't find a suitable place for them. They we're put in a cage for 8 days. I visited them every day so they wouldn't be so scared. Plus volunteered cleaning the facility. Suddenly. Last Monday, her manager called me saying they weren't in their cage and the cage was locked. I rushed down there to look for them. Their cage was ransacked, and evidence of them being physically removed. They kept insisting they must be hiding somewhere. I looked every day, for 3 days. And they are completely gone! Hardly any places to hide and she only had about 30 cats. The owner & manager insist they have no idea where they are. So it's scary to find out that the only 2 cats that were in a locked cage were the only ones that disappeared, and no free roaming cats are missing!! If someone can solve this mystery. Definitely something shady going on there, and my heart is severely broken. They were great cats and totally adoptable. I guess they will go down as an example of something definitely suspicious happening there. I can't imagine the owner doing anything intentional, but her new manager & wife are definitely up to no good. They changed their stories several times. So just a warning to all cat lovers out there. This is no sanctuary for the protection of animals. Especially when they lose caged ones, that never had a chance there! I will never forgive myself for...
Read moreToday I had an appointment to meet a prospective adoptee. From the moment me, my husband, and two kids ages 2 and 4 walked in I felt the woman (Linda I believe) made her decision about us right then and there. A little background on my family: we have 1 dog Dudley who never bothers our senior special needs kitty. His name is Toothless. He is shy, timid, but has never been remotely bothered by my boys. He even loves up on the dog. We have been Toothless family for over a year now. While yes, a number of cats inside Catmandu scurried away, the cat we were there to meet was not afraid of us. She even greeted both of my boys. I got to hold her for a few minutes as well as my husband and she immediately began to purr. My boys were your typical 2 and 4 year olds and were excited to see other cats and be in a new place. They squeeled with excitement from time to time but they weren’t terrors. (Edit to add: And if they were being little terrors I wouldn’t deny it. They did not touch a cat unless they asked me or their father if they could pet one.) Catmandu assumed that we would not be able to dedicate enough time and attention towards the cat we were there to see which seemed extremely unfair to judge a family like that. From the moment we walked in the woman constantly said “This isn’t going to work.” If you’re a family with younger kids looking to adopt a cat, this place is not for you and will not welcome you. It is really disheartening because we would have cared for and loved the cat we were there to meet. We will not be back and will look for a cat to love and adopt another place. Upon reading through the reviews, it seems apparent that it’s a pattern, that any family with kids, is immediately...
Read moreThe ladies at Catmandu are amazing! We adopted our little Cheddar boy a little over a week ago. The place is exactly what it says, a cat sanctuary! These ladies take such good care of the cats and kittens there, and you can tell how much they care. They will give you all the information you need as far as how to help them adjust, what food to feed them, etc. Cheddar is up to date on all his shots and even came chipped! I saw some negative reviews about not "allowing" people to adopt certain cats, etc. and I do believe they only have the cats best interest. They don't want to see them end up back at the sanctuary, a shelter, or worse, dumped somewhere. They clearly state this on their website as well. We went there fully prepared there'd be a possibility we'd be turned down. Think of it like buying from a breeder. The good ones do their research and have every right to turn you down if they don't think you're a good fit. So, all that being said, do your research before you decide to adopt. Thank you, Catmandu! We love our boy and are so proud of how well he's adjusting to...
