Most of the time this store is pretty great. I go there often for gardening and electrical supplies. The big draw back at this store is management, and heck, it was really only one manager one time, but here's my story. I had purchased a fixer upper house and have been making incremental improvements as I'm able to afford them. So I've gotten supplies like wall outlets, roses, doors, etc. at this location. Each time I've purchased any kind of wood products there, they would cut them for me to size. For example, if I purchase some plywood, they'll cut the plywood, if I buy a door, they'll cut the door, if I buy 2x4s they'll cut them too. I always call ahead of time so that they know I'm coming in and someone is available to cut what I purchase.
So, I had purchased a few replacement doors for the bedrooms but on one of the doors I had the measurement wrong when I first purchased it, so I called and asked if they would re-cut it for me, they said they can and to go ahead and stop on over. I drive up, load up the door into one of those big carts for boards and such, and before I get into the store, I'm greeted by someone offering to help. I say something to the effect of "No thank you, I called earlier and I'm just bringing this door up to be cut again". And this is where the story gets kind of weird. The guy stops me and says he's calling someone to help, so I say that I already have someone over by the saw that is going to help me, but he insists that I need to speak to a manager for some reason.
So I wait 20min for a manager to escort me to the saw, or so I thought. The manager comes up and talks to me about liability in regards to cutting products they sell. The manager tells me that they never ever under no circumstances are allowed to cut wood products that people bring in. I explain the situation to him, and I offer to not only pay for the cut, but pay for another door because it was my fault that I didn't get the measurement done the first time. He refused outright to sell me a door, cut the door I purchased already, and reassures to me that Home Depot doesn't cut any kind of carpentry product for customers, regardless of the place of purchase.
I think I spent about another 15min or so telling this manager that I've been to this location several times, and that this has never been an issue. This manager calls me a liar, tells me that no Home Depot does that, and tells me that I must be confusing them for another home improvement store, and then he refereed me to a competitor that sells doors. He tells me that he's sorry, but he needs to refuse my business.
So, I have yet to purchase any additional home improvement supplies at this store because of that. I've been going to Home Depot my entire life for all the misc. household things, even when it's more expensive just because the customer service has been above and beyond. But I don't think I've stepped foot in a Home Depot in just under a year now. I wish I could provide the name of the manager I spoke with, unfortunately I don't remember it.
The Lowe's in town is further away from where I live, and is often filled with folks that seem pretty disorganized, however I have yet to have an employee or manager lie to my face about something. I go into Lowe's, I ask a question, and I either get an honest "I don't know" or an honest explanation/answer. It seems more and more often these days, that big chain retailers like Home Depot hire management that is not willing to be candid and honest with their customers, the focus seems to be more about saving face and not being contradicted.
I would understand it if the manager said something like "There was a recent policy change, and we don't do that anymore, and the person you spoke with earlier wasn't aware of the change". But I was told I was a liar and that I'm not allowed to purchase doors...
Read moreI am unhappy with Home Depot as a whole. I tried to order a $600 appliance and have had nothing but issues with the order. Before placing it through the app I was told it would be delivered this Thursday. After placing the order the delivery date moved out to February 5th! More than 2 weeks out! I messaged a representative on the app and was told she couldn’t do anything. I called this store because it’s right next to my house and asked if I could pick it up. I was told since I placed it online I would need to call the online department. I was given a number to call. I called the number and the automated system says it can change my appointment to an earlier date. After 3 tries I was transferred to a person who was again of no help. She did explain that the date was pushed out by the manufacturer. Well this wasn’t going to work for my family of 5 so I asked to cancel the appointment so that I could order elsewhere. Then she tells me I have to call another number because I have to call the online department. Wait...what? I was already told that and given this number...so...by this time I was completely done all together! She then sighed and said “Ok I’ll help you.” WTH!?! Then she says I’ll just transfer you. That’s not helping either! So far I’ve accomplished buying a $600 appliance and $60 worth of accessories to go with it, can’t use it for at least 2 weeks, can’t cancel the order or move it to fit my families needs and can’t get one single Home Depot representative to actually help me. I am very disappointed in this ordering process and even more so with the “customer service” (or lack there of) that I have received.
This might sound like a spoiled brat, but my husband has lost his Grandmother that raised him, his sister and his mother in less than 3 months right before Christmas. He’s a combat Veteran who works full time, but had to take a leave of absence with so much loss at once. We are down his paychecks since before Christmas, my child support just stopped without warning for my older two kids and my paychecks were short because of unpaid time off to take care of my husband during his breakdown.
We don’t have money to even go to the laundry mat! I’ve been washing clothes in my kitchen sink for the past month. My grandmother decided to help us with the washer, but that can’t even happen.
Hope Depot this is really bad timing for such poor...
Read moreRelatively busy. Not enough staff in specialty areas. Signage depicting wrong messaging, "Not available at our N. Carson store." Yet I am standing there looking at it. When I get to the service desk for check-out, I ask for clarification. Is this refrigerator available here? "Oh, that just means you can't buy the floor model." Mean what you say and say what you mean. Looked for items shown online as available for pickup. Not apparently available for me to pick up and put in my cart for purchase. Most of the swamp cooler pads were in the wrong places because people are lazy and don't put them back where they found them. The signage for the sizes/prices is placed behind the overlapping shelving, so you can't tell what should be where. And no one is cleaning up the mess. All in all, a frustrating visit as I left without much of what I came for, two of which were "big ticket" items. Part of that was being subject to overhearing another customer's frustration at being told that he couldn't get the delivery dates shown online-the whole reason I came prepared to purchase and take my items...
