Golden Hex offers a huge variety of foreign groceries, mostly from Eastern Europe, as well as Central Asia.
Whether you hail from these regions and miss the authentic flavors and textures, or you are an American who has never set a foot abroad, you absolutely need to come and shop here! Immigrants will definitely find a fix for their nostalgic cravings, while the local crowd will undoubtedly open new culinary horizons. Eating is one of life's most simple yet most profound pleasures, universally understood - and pleasure you shall absolutely find when you step into this establishment.
I've been a supporter since Golden Hex first opened and was just a tiny little corner, barely bigger than a kiosk, all the way to the present times, when they look and feel like a serious business. In all these years they have never disappointed me! Their consistency of quality and service is spot on perfect, every time, time after time. I have never walked out of here with anything but positive emotions and a smile.
You need to know that despite looking like a big grocery store, Golden Hex is a small privately owned business, managed by a small team.
When you shop here, you support local economy and local entrepreneurship. This is not a faceless corporation. This is something that has been dreamed up and built from scratch by a regular human being, your neighbor. The entire concept and all of the small details that make this place special are a product of somebody's will and talent, and we all should do our best to support it, as opposed to giving our money to big sharks who have no heart and no soul in the game.
Think of Walmart. Does it care about you and your experience? No, it absolutely does not! Does it care about its own staff, the ones who make the whole operation feasible? No, it does not! Corporations like Walmart do not care about their staff or their customers. They only care about profits and annual growth. They worship the money. They take advantage of both you, me, and their own workers in their perpetual chase of money.
Golden Hex? They retain their employees for many years. I see the same faces over and over every time I visit. It tells me all I need to know about their treatment of their staff. Golden Hex cares about you the customer, your emotions, your perception every time you step through the doors. No, nobody will run up to you with flowers and fireworks - instead, their care will be evident in all the small details that build your overall experience. This place RESPECTS their customer, this place is GRATEFUL for their customer, this place understands that their very survival depends on the kind of energy they put into us and the value they deliver to us. Instead of a simple model "buy cheap, sell expensive", this place knows that money comes from delivering emotion. Every time I bite into a perfect pickle I bought here and close my eyes in pleasure, it's money for the store. My emotion is what truly brings in the money.
Look at their amazing selection - just imagine what kind of work merchandising for this store takes. Somebody keeps track of the huge inventory, finds unique products, makes sure nothing runs out, submits orders to suppliers in time. I'm sure they do it with love.
Look at how shiny clean this store is. Everyone takes pride in their work and workplace, and everyone makes sure your basket handle is not sticky, and you're not staring at a dusty grimy register when paying for your purchase. I'm sure they do it with love.
Before you suspect anything, I don't know the owner at all and I'm not here to write a sweet review to please them. I've met them many times, but I don't even know their name! I just feel that rare gems like Golden Hex DESERVE our support. We need businesses like this in our communities, and we want them to prosper for many years.
Let me conclude by offering a heartfelt THANK YOU to the owner and the team. Guys, you're the BEST. THANK YOU for the quality of care you bring us. We love you. Please...

Read moreMy relative and I decided to come into this store being new to the area as well as it being she has since made new associates from other countries, learning in school about other cultures and their food as well. Upon entering the store behind a non black male whom was greeted and smiled at, we received glares/ignored by employees up front and was not acknowledged even after I smiled and said "Hi" to the older female who was up front at the time, but it was made known throughout the store by the other employees also that our patronage was NOT wanted, So much so - my relative whispered after explaining to me what "Hanuta" was that maybe we should go and purchase it elsewhere, being the apparent tension and uncomfortableness that we were met with throughout this establishment. I would NOT recommend coming into this store if you are black, as I...
