Had a chance to visit Oiso in Cary tonight which sits in a smaller shopping center next to Harris teeter off of Maynard Rd it's a smaller restaurant that is korean based ... It serves sushi and some korean entrees..
So checked it out and had ate the following dishes:
Chef Kim's Roll which is Tuna, salmon, white tuna(escolar), snapper, spicy crab, cilantro and crab stick in daikon wrap, topped with special ponzu sauce... this roll was delicious .. it's one of the heavier options on rolls but the daikon gave it a lil extra love to an already delicious roll.
Crispy Rice which is a spicy tuna and avocado served on deep fried rice triangles ... I had this same dish at M Sushi in Durham and it was on the same level of deliciousness.. think spicy tuna tartare on a crostini... this is just the Asian version of it ..
Tuna Kani is Tuna, avocado and crabstick wrapped in cucumber with special ponzu sauce was good here but not as good as Osha Thais version .. still delicious but cucumber was sliced a little thicker .. good option if you didnt want the heavier sushi with rice type rolls.
Beef Bulgogi BIBIMBAP which is a bed rice served in hot stone bowl where the rice on the bottom is crispy due to the oil and hot stone bowl giving it a nice crispy rice base and than its topped with cucumbers, bean sprouts , a fried egg, and beef bulgogi... the crispy rice in the bottom is like a hidden treasure ... you dig it up and stir it with the rest of the ingredients in the bowl and add some Gochujang sauce to kick it up with a lil spice.

Read moreA warm, quiet, and peaceful sushi restaurant with delicious food and great service from really nice people. Production is swift and well executed with attention to detail. It’s a small and busy restaurant but the kitchen and wait staff work seamlessly together with mechanical precision to handle the dinner rush. Everything I ordered was top notch and delicious, and the sushi is among the best in the area. Of particular note was the Hamachi Kama. It’s described as fish head on the menu but it’s really fish collar, which is my second favorite cut of fish after the belly. So don’t be daunted by the thought of your appetizer looking back at you as you eat it - there’s no eyeball in this dish (bummer for me, I really love salty sweet fish eyes). They season and deep fry the collars perfectly, so that the delicious rich fatty meat (think of it as almost like fish bacon) is firm but not dry. The skin is my favorite. I eat the meat first and then dip the skin into the accompanying sauce which is also amazing, and it’s like a eating crispy fish potato chip. Truly a...
Read moreI came in with low expectations. A little hole in the wall sushi and Korean restaurant in a strip mall. There’s a lot in this area as well - what could this one offer over the rest? Well it turns out I cannot exaggerate enough how impressed I was; this immediately becoming my favorite in the area and topping M sushi and other popular sushi places. My expectations were completely blown away. The freshness and quality here cannot be overstated enough.
I love the lowkey style atmosphere inside. But when it comes down to the cut of fish, the freshness and portions of sashimi and nigiri, the pairing of flavor in their specialty rolls, and more - this hits beyond any other sushi place I’ve been to.
I highly recommend chef Kim’s roll (and a bento overall) if you like cilantro - I never would have suspected myself to be such a massive fan of pairing cilantro in a roll. Thank you for introducing me to this combo, it was so delicious. The crispiness of the tempura was so well done. Everything texture, taste, and mouthfeel felt so well executed;...
