A hidden gem! Today was my first time visiting Pizzeria Veritas in Cary, NC and I was very pleased. First off, the atmosphere was very chill and the energy was very welcoming. The person who helped us was super helpful and nice which was very appreciated since this was our first time! They have very good prices and they had some good deals. We got the #3 deal which was an 18" cheese pizza, 6 garlic knots, and a 2 liter drink for $22.99 (we dined in so instead of the 2 liter drink, we got two refillable fountain drinks). This was more than enough for the two of us and it was delicious. The employee was very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed as well. As for the food, the garlic knots were done quickly and they were very tasty. The sauce for them was a bit thick and chunky and I usually prefer lighter, thinner sauces, but my boyfriend really likes thicker sauces and he loved this one. The pizza was very delicious! We settled on a classic cheese pizza since it was National Pizza day and didn't opt for added toppings. The pizza sauce was very thin and light which was a nice surprise for me. The crust was also perfectly baked and a little bit crunchy which is how I like it. The proportions of cheese to sauce to crust was perfect and I really liked the thinness of the pizza. Overall 10/10 food and even better service. Will be coming back to try more soon!

Overall Score: 6.5/10 – A solid takeout pizza spot with easy online ordering, a clean setup, and a decent menu selection, offering both dine-in and takeout options. Atmosphere and Service: 6.8/10 – The restaurant looks nice and clean, a step up from a standard takeout place with some dine-in availability. The online ordering process was smooth, with text and email notifications for convenience. Apple Pay was accepted, though there was a $1.50 fee. The menu had a decent variety of options. NY Style Cheese Pizza: 5.9/10 – A decent pizza with an authentic NY-style flop, though it leaned more toward being undercooked rather than having the intended crispness. The flavor was fine but not particularly exciting. It wasn’t overly greasy, which was a plus. The price and quality were both acceptable, but nothing about the pizza stood out. Cheesesteak: 7.9/10 – A standout item, made correctly with great flavor and quality ingredients. The steak had the perfect cooked taste, not overly salty, and was well-balanced with the right amount of cheese. The portion size was decent, though the price was on the higher side. Overall, a great option worth trying.

Was in Cary visiting and wanted some pizza pie. Was going to go to the new hot shot place out of New York City but when I called the nice fella said they don't do phone orders----only online for pickup. I honestly didnt want to go online for a one time order and more importantly had no desire to spend $30+ for a pizza pie so I came here. We were trying to please multiple people/some non-meat eaters so I went classic margherita. I can't say I have had this style all that often but my group all found it to be a more than adequate pizza pie. The nice young lady on the phone (Adrienne?) took my order and told me it would not be ready until a certain time. I arrived early and the three young ladies all greeted me politely and took my money. I had been here before under the previous name and the interior seemed a little nicer with some cool pics and even a Banksy poster. I got my pizza pie right when they said on the phone that it would be ready. It was a very picturesque pizza pie. My only minor complaint would have been a few more tomato pieces but we all found the crust and sauce to be quite tasty. I would come back here again for sure.

This stings to write, but I have sworn by Pizzeria Veritas for 3 years now since I moved to the triangle in 2020. The average human would probably be disgusted by the amount of money I've spent on pizza here and the corresponding number of calories I've put into my body. I live east of downtown Raleigh and would drive 30-35 minutes to Cary because I have yet to find a pizza shop that could rival that of Pizzeria Veritas.

I had taken a pizza break since about May and decided last week it was time to pump my arteries with that Veritas goodness. I opened up my instagram and searched their account to get stoked for my large 18" cup and char pepperoni pizza and 6-12 garlic knots order that I would consume in one sitting. After I didn't see their username come up in my list of followers, I went to google to make sure the worst hadn't happened - the shop closing. I quickly found the website and saw the message that it was now under new ownership. After some additional searching and finding the old owner's newly named instagram account, I saw it was sold and they no longer were affiliated with the name or product. They were great, friendly people! I wish them nothing but success in their future endeavors!

As I mentioned, I live and die by this shop. I figured I owed it to the new owners to continue my business and really hoped everything would be exactly the same. Man, what a disappointment. The moment I opened up my bag containing my 6 garlic knots I could immediately tell the marinara was different. Gone was the glorious marinara sauce where every spice, tomato and pepper burst in your mouth like a flavor crystal of goodness. It was replaced by a bland, un-flavorful sauce that tasted like it came from a store-bought jar. The actual knots were different as well. Usually, those tasty little knots were soaked in garlic, olive oil and butter in the tin. The dough would melt in your mouth, your taste buds would sing, and the angels would cry. These new ones did have a similar appearance but seemed to have very little seasoning sprinkled on top and tasted almost like a Kings Hawaiian roll had been baked.

Regarding the pizza I was accustomed to, the description of 'elevated NY style pizza' could not have been more spot on. The spicy honey and a regular pizza with cup and char pepperoni were my favorites. Once I opened my pizza it wasn't too far off visually. There were significantly less toppings than usual, but the overall taste was off and very apparent from the first bite. It's pretty apparent the ingredients have been changed for everything and the end product suffers greatly. There's another review I saw from a few days ago where a picture of the current spicy honey pizza is posted and comparing to how it used to look with the old management is a travesty. Go through past reviews or the past owners instagram and the visual difference is very clear. Give them a call to place an order and your taste buds will confirm that change is not always for the better.

I can consume gross quantities of food. Veritas was my go-to cheat meal where the entire 18" pizza and 12 garlics knots will be gone in one sitting. If it didn't get eaten in one sitting, the rest would be consumed hours later. This was the first time in 3 years where I could only make myself get through 3 slices and 2 garlic knots before calling it quits. And wasting food is a massive pet peeve for me.

The old Veritas was always a 4.8 to 5/5. Second to none. This new management Veritas is a 2 to 2.5/5 at best.

My soul is crushed, but I guess all good things must...

In a world brimming with standard fare, Pizzeria Veritas emerges as a radiant beacon for true pizza aficionados - a sanctuary where the artisanal artistry of pizza-making is not only respected but cherished.

The crust is consistently impeccable, achieving the elusive golden mean between crispy and chewy. It's clear that Pizzeria Veritas appreciates the vital role of a stellar crust as the canvas upon which the rest of the pizza masterpiece is drawn.

The toppings are a clear reflection of meticulous sourcing, fresh and bursting with flavor. From the zesty tomato sauce made from vine-ripened tomatoes to the lush, creamy mozzarella that achieves a perfect state of melt, each component speaks volumes about the commitment to quality. The diverse selection of toppings allows for endless customization, ensuring a pizza exists for every preference. The meats are cooked to perfection, the vegetables retain their crispness, and the seasoning strikes an immaculate balance.

But what sets Pizzeria Veritas apart is not solely the phenomenal pizza. It's the entire experience. The staff exudes friendliness, attentiveness, and a wealth of pizza-related knowledge, intent on making your visit nothing short of delightful. Their passion for their craft is palpable, making each patron feel like an honorary member of the Pizzeria Veritas family.

So, if your quest is for a transcendent pizza experience, chart your course for Pizzeria Veritas. During a recent trip to NC we ate here and I have to say, if it weren't so far away from my home I would be there at least once a week because they serve the best veggie sub I have ever had. I am a vegetarian (not vegan) and also the only vegetarian in my family so that means when we go out to eat, I usually order side dishes or the one vegetarian dish on the menu, because most places don't have extensive meatless options. I was prepared to order veggie pizza here, but was surprised to see that they had a veggie sub, and decided to try that. I was expecting the kind of veggie sub I had at Subway, which will keep you alive but isn't anything special, but thought maybe theirs would be better and have flavor, which subway's did not. Well they certainly had more flavor than Subway and they had more of everything else too. It was absolutely wonderful! Lots of times a sandwich that is only veggies and cheese just seems incomplete somehow, but this one was a perfect, fully balanced sandwich. I don't know how they made it so much better than most other places, and I didn't think to ask when we were there, but it was the best I've had. Next time we go to NC we are definitely coming back here and I am getting that veggie sub again. I am also going to get a veggie pizza to go,because I can't wait to see how theirs is. Most places serve a veggie pizza that seems like at afterthought, and if their veggie sub is any indication, I bet their veggie pizza will be just as addicting. My family really loved their food as well and the service was great with a friendly staff. The price was also very reasonable. The only downside of this place is that it is in NC, not in my small town in Alabama. Maybe open one down...
