If I could give this negative stars I would.
Long post but PLEASE READ**
Me, my mom, my sister and my 2 year old son went into the store to rent my little boy a suit for a wedding. We were helped immediately by two young guys at the rental counter who were great.. they got us a suit for my son to try on and we went into the dressing room. When we walked out another man that worked there walked by and commented that it looked great but that it needed some alterations. I stated that the suit pants were too large and the gentleman that mentioned the alterations told the other 2 guys that were helping us originally that they needed to take his measurements and look at the chart for the suit. He was rude to one of the young guys that was helping us and then completely took over “helping” us.
We were given a smaller size to try by the younger guy and proceeded back into the dressing room to try it on. While in the dressing room the other guy comes and sits down outside of the room waiting for us to come out. He kept telling us over and over that if we come out he’ll help us. I stated each time that we were getting him changed and would be right out. Next thing I know he BUSTED INTO THE DRESSING ROOM. It scared my son to death, he immediately started crying and clinging to me. Instead of taking a hint and giving him space he kept trying to talk to him and calm him down. I asked for him to give us a minute to try to calm him down and finish changing him. We eventually walked out of the dressing room.
In the process of trying to measure, the man was very close to my face because my son would not let go of me. The man reeked of alcohol. I’m not accusing him of drinking on the job, just stating the fact that he smelled of alcohol as he was breathing right in my face.
I made the decision to go back into the dressing room and get my son back into his regular clothes because he was very very upset and clearly didn’t want to do it anymore. The man walked away and came back a few minutes later. We knew he had returned because he loudly stated “I’m back to scare little children.” He began asking us to come back out to try again, to which I replied to please give us a minute.
I sent my mom and my son back to the car as he was still very upset and clinging to us. I walked out with both suits and he tried having us try another jacket. I shared that he was too upset and I knew what he needed based on what we had tried on. I stood there with the man and picked out what we needed. While I was doing so he kept rambling about the different sizes and coming back for bigger sizes in the future. While rambling he stated to my sister and I “Sorry I scared the little guy, I have a girl that works for me that’s a lot better with the children. I scare grown women too.”
Not sure if he was the manager or not but he was talking to another one of the guys that worked there about sending home the girl that worked there because he was done with her, etc. clearly talking smack about her loudly right in front of us.
Overall, the man was very rude, talking over me and disregarding what I was saying the whole time.
Take all of this as a sign NOT...
Read moreI took my son to order a prom tux last night. We scanned the QR code on the sign to take our place in line. Our confirmation showed we were #10. No one to blame. 'Tis prom season after all! We felt bad for the overrun staff.
An hour later, a female clerk announced that the staff would be unable to help everyone before closing time. Was anyone willing to schedule for another day? When we volunteered, she explained that appointments get priority over walk-ins, so we'd get prompt service upon our return. Great! I only wished someone had suggested it sooner.
My son and I returned today at our appointment time. We walked past a male clerk serving another mother-son duo and toward a young female clerk near the rental desk. She was staring at her tablet screen, and I waited for her to look up and greet us. As the minutes stretched without acknowledgement, I noticed she was dressed rather casually. "She must have a backroom role," I thought.
As we stood in silence, another male employee walked back and forth from the backroom a few times. He likewise didn't interact with us in any way despite his proximity.
We continued to wait. The female clerk eventually walked around us -- not a word spoken, no eye contact. I was surprised when she approached another customer. Did he also have an appointment or had we been passed up for a walk-in? I found the lack of engagement off putting, but on the bright side, the male clerk assisting the other mother and son seemed quite friendly. He'd be more enjoyable to work with anyway, I told myself.
But as our wait stretched 30 minutes, I started scrolling my phone for other formalwear options. When my typically chill son confessed to feeling, in his words, "low-key annoyed" at the experience, we decided to leave.
I made a fitting appointment elsewhere before we left the parking lot. We'd been home 30 minutes when my son finally received a text from Men's Wearhouse saying they were ready to help us. No thank you.
He's only a freshman, BTW, with many formalwear occasions ahead of him. We won't be back.
(UPDATE: We later had an excellent experience at VIP Formalwear in Crabtree. It's less convenient to us location-wise, but the customer service was stellar and...
Read moreWe just left this location after spending an hour and a half being ignored by staff. We walked in, no one greeted us at all even though the store was only mildly busy at the time. We finally sought out an employee who measured my partner, and showed us where to go before walking away, promising to come back. We had picked out all the suits we were interested in trying within 20 minutes before standing there waiting for another 30 minutes. No employee.
Finally, another employee came over and asked if we had been helped. He brought us to the dressing rooms and we thought we’d finally get out of there with a suit. Wrong.
The daily deal on the website was for 50% off Calvin Klein. We asked the employee is this was in stores as well and he didn’t know. He found a manager (my best guess) and the manager said “I can’t do anything if there’s no coupon. You have to find me one.” Which I understand, but his tone was very embarrassing and saying “not to be rude” doesn’t make it any less rude.
The tailor came out, marked the pants, and they started filling out a card. Still no answer to our question so we asked again. At this point, the man helping us mumbled something and walked away. We continued to wait but the employee who had been helping us was actively avoiding us. We waited some more. Still no answer. Finally, I stepped out of the store to call another location to see if it was possible to get this coupon in stores. The answer was no. Again, also fine. They were having a 60% sale on other suits so we went back to look.
We had other questions about pants and fit. No employees to help. We saw people come in after us be helped and walk out with purchases while we were waiting.
Finally, we grabbed an employee as he walked past to ask a question about pants and he answered it before quickly walking away.
I guess no one wanted to sell us a suit. I have never been more embarrassed in my life in a store and talked down to. I’m so unhappy with the way I was treated and we definitely won’t be back. Not that they...
