I am writing regarding a purchase made by my husband and myself in September of 2020 at the Casper, WY store. We bought an entire bedroom set (king bed, two night tables, two dressers, king mattress and box spring) totaling $4700. At the time we made this purchase, we were happy with the customer service we received. Unfortunately, what began as a positive buying experience has turned into disappointment and dissatisfaction. At the time of this purchase, I was 9 months pregnant and we were moving into a new house. We needed furniture quickly in order to move in before our son was born. The furniture we selected was not in stock, but we were told it would be in the following week and we could pick it up when we came back to Casper to get my mother. We were told we HAD to pick it up as Slumberland does not deliver to our home in Medicine Bow (90+ miles away). We agreed as we were planning to be in town at the time and we also understood that there were issues with supply related to COVID.
When we came back the following week (trip #2), one of the dressers had not arrived, and likely would not be available until NOVEMBER - two months later. Meaning we would have to make a third 180-mile round-trip to pick up a piece of furniture we had been assured would be delivered at the arranged time and date. So, we took the furniture that was there and returned home.
Upon beginning to assemble the bed, my husband quickly discovered that the incorrect hardware had been included and there was no way to put the bed together with what was there. He called Slumberland and was informed that they could order the missing hardware, but that it would be a few weeks before it arrived. Meanwhile, we had no bed to sleep in and I was STILL 9 MONTHS PREGNANT. So, I drove 60 miles the other direction to Laramie and purchased the hardware from Ace Hardware in order for the bed to be usable.
Fast-forward 4 months: we did finally pick-up our last dresser in November. It is now February. I was making the bed one morning and crossed the bottom of the bed to the other side. I noticed that the patently fake wood used to cover the footboard of the bed was bulging (due to the presence of multiple air bubbles) and had begun to peel (delaminate). The rest of the furniture's finishings appeared to be intact, but had I even gently pulled on this material, the whole footboard finish would have peeled completely off. So, once again, my husband called Slumberland as the furniture is still under warranty. We were told that, yes, the warranty would cover the repair, however we would have to either bring the footboard to Casper ourselves or pay to have it picked up. We were further informed that, had Slumberland delivered and installed the furniture, the pick-up would also be covered by the warranty. PLEASE REFER TO THE TOP OF THIS MESSAGE WHERE WE WERE DIRECTLY INFORMED THAT WE COULD NOT HAVE THE FURNITURE DELIVERED TO OUR HOUSE AND HAD TO PICK IT UP AND ASSEMBLE IT OURSELVES. Clearly, had this been an option from the beginning, we would have chosen to have the furniture delivered and assembled rather than making three separate trips of 180-miles each! When we stated this to the salesman on the phone, we were told that the repair man would get back to us that day or the next day and try to arrange some kind of solution. This also has not happened, and we are still using a $4000+ bedroom set whose bed has begun falling apart after only four months when we were told it would last years due to its sturdy and well-crafted construction. Read moreI’m really disappointed in how our experience with Slumberland turned out. It started with amazing customer service when we were buying a couch for our new house, and we were pumped to feel so well taken care of. Buying a couch is a big and scary purchase. We had our couch delivered, and right off the bat, we noticed that the box was very clearly facing the wrong direction (“FRAGILE: this side up” was facing down), and we feared that the couch we were super excited for was mis handled and delivered to us in a damaged fashion. Hopeful, we brought it inside, only to find that upon assembly, one of the arms was loose and defective. While this was definitely not ideal, we reached out to Slumberland. They agreed it was defective, and they replaced it with a refurbished couch. With the “new” couch, they delivered AND assembled it. This was the start of where things went really wrong. Had we put it together ourselves, we would have noticed that one of the legs was broken. Unfortunately, the employees who assembled the couch for us lacked the integrity to share that the leg was broken as well. We discovered the broken leg just a couple weeks later, but upon reaching out to Slumberland, we were greeted with a very different level of customer service. They were completely unwilling to work with us in replacing or returning the product because it was out of the 5 day grace period. Please keep in mind that we moved into our house mid-July, and our first couch was delivered a few days after that, so all of this occurred within less than a month. This easily could have been a scenario where we lost faith in that type of couch and went with a different piece of furniture, but instead, we also lost faith in this company and refuse to do business with them again. Read moreThe staff at Slumberland are amazing!!! They are always so helpful and well educated on their products. They listened to what we were looking for and what our price range was that we wanted to stay in. When Lindsey was helping us the first night we came in (almost closing time) she was great and we came back the next day, she remembered us and had some other people ahead of us, but the other staff stepped in to help us and gave her the information that he helped us with. Never once was it a competition as to who was helping who. We came back about 8 months after purchasing our bed (and got a new dinning table) we came back to look for a new couch and we’re remembered and were told about sales and again received above our expectations of service!!! They have been so wonderful to work with and we have purchased multiple items from them and will only go to Slumberland from now on. I highly recommend them and have had people ask me for recommendations when it comes to furniture shopping and I will always recommend Slumberland. Great job!!!! I will be a lifetime customer that has turned into a great friendship with all there at the store. Thank you Slumberland!!! Keep up the amazing work!!
And your delivery staff is amazing as well!!! Great set and timing, and they clean up as well.
