My Lenovo laptop was roughly handled going through security at an airport. When I tried to use it onboard the plane, I got a constant hum from the processor and fan, a blank screen and then ultimately, a shut down that would not restart. No power, no anything. I normally back-up my data regularly but because of my travel, I had a lot of work on my desktop that had not been saved and was fearful of all that I had lost.

I took my "brick" to Duke at Laptop repair and explained what had occurred. He described the process he would employ, gave me a fair estimate of time and cost and more importantly, the assurance that he could likely fix the problem but most certainly recover my data.

Two days later and ahead of schedule, I had my laptop back and, working better than ever. I might add that I was able to pick it up on a Saturday which enabled me to complete my work before Monday meetings. Duke at Laptop Repair is the real thing. I unfortunately bought a higher end ($1,000) HP Laptop & 2 years & 2 weeks after purchase, the keyboard & touchpad crapped out. Of course it was 2 weeks past the warranty date & of course neither HP or the warranty company would do anything. So, I went on a search for anyplace other than the "Geek Squad" to take my crappy HP to & see if it could be repaired.

After reading multiple positive reviews on Yelp & Nextdoor about Laptop Repair & Duke, I decided to take the HP in to see what they could do. Duke told me how long it would be til he could get to it & actually did what he said he'd do! He called & said the diagnostics showed a hardware, not software issue. After further diagnosis, it showed I needed a completely new keyboard & touchpad. The price for the parts from HP was over $300 & Duke agreed with me that it wasn't worth putting that kind of money in it. Yes, he actually did what was right & didn't try to convince me to spend money with him!

Recently Tim was able to help me recover my Dell laptop's failed encrypted hard drive. I had initially contacted Dell support and, while they aren't up to the Apple level...they were good, but their solution would have replaced my hard drive and done nothing for the data.
