Midwest Mattress — Local services in Cedar Falls

I want to leave a good review for this business but I can't stand by a company that doesn't keep their word. I purchased a mattress and bed frame from the Waterloo location during their store closing sale. The owner and an employee from Ames were present and very helpful during my purchase. I remember being told several times how I'm getting such a great deal and I'm practically getting the bed frame for free. I was told to pick the products up in a few days, on their last day open. When my husband went to pick them up he was told that the remote for the adjustable bed frame had been lost and was given a different remote and told to take it up with the Cedar Falls location. The remote that we were given appeared outdated and wasn't able to be used for the lumbar function on which the bed frame I had purchased specifically had. Instead it worked only for the head and foot. I called the Cedar Falls location as well as visited them and was helped by a very kind associate who called his boss, who then directed him to call the warehouse and order and new remote for us. He did just that and assured us that the remote will be shipped straight to our house within a week and everything was good to go. About a week had passed and I received a return call from this same associate apologizing and stating that he was told by his boss that the frame was sold as is and we will have to order our own remote if we want a new one. I was pretty upset that I went through all this trouble to be told the appropriate remote will be sent to my house after spending over $1500 at this store and considering they are the ones who lost the remote in the first place. I asked the associate if he would email me the specifics for the appropriate remote and have his boss contact me and he said no problem and I have never heard back from them. I can't believe that they care more about the price of a remote than satisfying a customer. Very poor customer service in my opinion. I will be taking my business elsewhere...

Customer service was fantastic! We had a good idea of what we were looking for and how much we wanted to spend before going in and the staff was very friendly and not pushy about trying to make us get a mattress. They were knowledgeable about the different mattresses and what kinds may work for our needs. Was worried it would be difficult since my wife likes a former mattress than I do, but we were able to find a great middle ground one. I appreciate the staff being patient as we tried to decide and I'm glad they didn't hover over our shoulders the whole time. What sealed the deal for me was the fact they have a 1 year comfort guarantee so if the mattress doesn't work out for us we can exchange it for another one. I've been nervous about getting a mattress in case we didn't like it but it's reassuring to know we can swap it out if we end up not liking it later. Would recommend to others if they are looking for a stress-free experience and don't want to feel pressured to get one right away or are worried about getting one they might not end up liking a month...

I went to 6 mattress stores in Cedar Falls / Waterloo this weekend, and Midwest Mattress was the only place that had a salesperson knowledgeable enough to answer my questions about the purpose of latex inside a mattress, and to recommend the most hypoallergenic mattress options. Seriously, this guy Mike was like a mattress encyclopedia; he was very helpful and made the decision process straightforward. They also have a good selection of brands and price points in their store. The other stores I went to (McGregor, Denver Mattress, Ashley, etc.) mainly carried only 2 or 3 brands and didn't have quality options for the $1500 price range which I was after. Got the Night Owl brand at Midwest Mattress and was very happy with my purchase. They were able to deliver my mattresses in less than 48 hours and the delivery guys were very nice and professional and went above and beyond to handle a couple of special requests I had.
