Iâve been visiting family in cedarburg my entire life. At least three times a year, I traipse up and down the street, buying kitschy tourist stuff, but also ordering furniture, art from galleries and investing in small businesses. This trip, will be our last, as our aunt, who is 102 will be moving away. To commemorate a goodbye to a place and person we love, I thought âIâll go into this storied business and buy something really stunningâ. I have all the classics, tennis bracelets, studs, pearls etc. I planned on spending a few grand. When I was greeted, I felt like a burden to the associate, whom I believe was named Pam. I explained the situation, and that we were visiting from Detroit. I clarified âa few miles north, in birminghamâ her response was âoh, so not in the ghettoâ. Wow. I cannot imagine being so curt with a customer. I told her that Detroit is actually a huge, very diverse city with some of the most beautiful estates I have ever seen. I then decided that I would not be spending 3-6 grand on a diamond, but instead a stacking ring. But she never warmed up, could hardly be bothered to smile. I suppose that, in the ghetto, we smile and take an interest in our patrons. Especially patrons who will pay a ridiculous mark-up, in a recession, just to support a small business. The only redeeming qualities were: a lovely old building and a young girl with short brown hair who appeared to be a manager, who made eye-contact and was able to smile and make an effort. I bought one earring for an ear piercing. Mainly because I still believe in small businesses in cedarburg and I was on a time crunch. Go somewhere else. Get a better price with a staff that isnât so tone deaf. Buying jewelry is sentimental, special and you should be treated with the warmth and happiness it deserves. What a let down, and what a crummy note to leave my favorite place on....
Read moreIf youâre looking for a great jeweler, you can stop looking. Armbruster Jewelers is it. I am so happy I found them!
I had a unique situation where my center diamond fell out of my wedding ring. When I called the insurance to open a claim, they offered me a payout of significantly less money to replace the original diamond than what we had payed for it. But I was told I could also take it to a reputable jewelry shop and get a quote to submit to insurance.
After checking with multiple jewelry shops who were less than helpful, I found Armbruster. Everyone in the store was so nice as soon as I walked in and they were happy to talk through the situation with me. The staff brought Anna Armbruster out to determine if and what they could do. Anna is clearly an expert in her field. She recommended the next steps and helped me navigate everything with the insurance. I have no doubt that without Armbruster helping me, my ring would not look as amazing as it does today. Armbruster found a diamond that matched the exact specs of the original, but it was also one of the most clear and beautiful diamonds I had seen. They clearly know how to source great diamonds!!
They also worked with the insurance directly to make sure the cost of rebuilding the setting was included, something the insurance didnât initially include in their quote. Armbruster had the work done by one of their offsite experts who does custom work. The ring turned out beautifully. They did such a good job making sure everything was fully intact and secure so this wonât happen again - to the center stone or any of the other small diamonds on the ring. It feels like a brand new ring!!
I also thought their pricing was very fair!
Armbruster Jewelers is truly the kind of small business that everyone wants to find! I will be recommending it...
Read moreI am very disappointed with the service I've gotten from Armbruster thus far, and likely won't be returning. Being newly engaged, I was anxious to have my ring resized and appraised. I called Armbruster, as they were the jeweler that was closest to where I lived, and was quoted a price for the appraisal and the resizing. When I brought it in, I was given a completely different price and the employees almost were insinuating that I was lying about what I was quoted, telling me, "we have always charged this price for what you're having done, I don't know who here would have given you that number." For some reason, though, I allowed them to keep the ring to size and appraise it, despite the higher price. (No, they wouldn't even give me any sort of discount for one of their own employees quoting me wrong numbers!) So I finally got the ring, and was happily on my way. Or so I thought. A few weeks later, the large stone in my ring was loose (luckily I noticed this before I lost it). I brought it into Armbruster again, figuring that they would just offer to tighten it, as it likely came loose due to them not tightening it when it was appraised, since they have to take out the large stone to do so. I drop it off, and, without even being told I'm getting charged, I picked it up this evening, and was charged $30. So now, I've given them over $100 in business, and feel that the service I got was sub-par. I'd rather bring my ring to a mall jeweler than back to Armbruster after my...
