•Great little craft distillery with some fun and unique whiskeys coming up. I very much enjoy the sourced and blended whiskey (Mill Race) as it is a great easy sipping whiskey. Its not crazy sweet but not excessively spicy or too oak forward. •Gin is surprisingly floral and as dry as I associate Gins being. The cask strength is much more dynamic and a good whiskey as well. •To clear up some of the confusion. To my remembrance when talking to staff, the distillery opened last summer and had hyper limited hours. Reason being, for anyone who knows about the whiskey business, it takes a good few years (at least 5) to produce your own (un-sourced) whiskey. For the distillery to make money in the time in between, the distillery will produce a "simple" Vodka or any other "young" spirit. This partially explains "uncreative" names as those spirits are not intended to be their bread and butter. If the distillery has a confident/experienced/crafty Master Distiller, they may seek some sourced whiskeys. Once their product starts to reach maturity then their income may increase as well as product variety. From there its owners choice to determine new or expanded hours as they learn their market. •In summary, this is a great local distillery that I am excited to share in the journey this establishment...
Read moreNew parent? Don't come here. We met up with a bunch of friends for Oktoberfest today, but with the rain, we sought refuge here for a drink, which was good! Two of us had newborns. I checked the bathroom to see if there was a changing station. There wasn't. So I laid a mat on a bench and quickly changed my son's diaper (just a pee) and put it in a dog bag. (I always wrap them before disposing. Shortly after, an older female employee with long brown hair rushed over to chastise me. "I dont want to make a big deal about this," she said as she continued to make a big deal about it. She sprayed a solution all around us and freaked out about throwing away the bag ASAP, saying if an inspector were there she'd be in big trouble. I empathize, though didn't understand since they don't serve food (also wasn't on the table), but asked her what I was supposed to do when there were no changing tables. She told me I should've asked her and she would've taken me somewhere else. I guess I was supposed to read her mind. So if any of you are first-time parents, already super self-conscious about being loud or if you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, spend your money elsewhere in the zillions of other family-friendly bars and restaurants where you won't be publicly...
Read moreFrom out of town. Stopped in with my sister who lives nearby for an afternoon drink after shopping in stores along the way; had their “Chicago” cocktail and loved it. Had a lovely conversation with one of the owners, who described each of the bourbons to us since I told her I was interested in buying a product for the friends taking care of my dog while I’m away. I bought the Small Batch Bourbon and hope they like it— I wish I would have remembered that they sell samples; that could’ve help me make my final decision. Given that, I might suggest that any of the owners who interact with people out front to tell / remind them that they can buy samples to help them make decisions. Due to the need to keep up with the demand for their products, they are expanding their store after being in business less than a year. The fact that it is a women-owned business is a plus. I’ll be back when I visit my...
