BoxLunch after lunch
After having a bacon guacamole burger and unlimited steak fries at Red Robin, I was casually strolling in the mall & noticed BoxLunch open for business. Arriving on their very first day in business, I delighted in checking out all the pop culture gifts for sale.
One of the employees greeted me and let me know for every $10 spent, a meal would be provided for someone in need. What a great way to do good & come home with nifty gifties all in one stroke!
'Tis the season, with Nightmare before Christmas novelties welcoming customers in. I have to admit, I've never even seen the movie, nor experienced the Nightmare before Christmas Haunted Mansion. Top it off, I have the movie lying around somewhere, awaiting some love from moi.
The superhero genre is well represented at BoxLunch. Dr. Strange related paraphernalia were well-represented inside the left display window, the right having Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Can't have a nerdist outlet w/o having a lot of Star Wars merchandise! I almost couldn't resist buying the Darth Vader/Stormtrooper salt & pepper shakers. So adorable!
The layout is split, with women's goods on the left. Other pop culture subjects included Nintendo, NASA, Totoro & Disney.
Service was good. I talked with one of the managers about BoxLunch, finding out about their other locations in Brea, Irvine & Glendale. He also notified me not to get BoxLunch mixed up with Boxlunch, the eatery.
So many things to buy, so little money! BoxLunch is a hipster's paradise, selling baubles & trinkets that'll satisfy even the most finicky Sorcerer Supreme. I would normally have given 4 stars, but because BoxLunch donates meals to the hungry, I have to give the 5 star treatment to them for doing philanthropic work. I rushed home to register for BoxLunch's Loyalty Reward program, in hopes of snagging a promo discount for the Boba Fett Hawaiian...
Read moreThis review is based on my Nov. 2024 visit. First, if I could, I would rate my experience 0 stars. I had not gone to this Boxlunch in awhile. I decided to commit to the drive because an item that I wanted said "in stock" at the Cerritos location, and I wanted to exchange my previous purchase(from another boxlunch) for this item. When we first arrived the aisles were a bit of a squeeze and the store felt a bit claustrophobic. I understand that stores sometimes have to work with a certain space area, so I don't want to judge them for that. I couldn't find my item, so I decided to continue with my return while asking for the item I was looking for. Once I approached the cashier she mentioned to me that the app sometimes shows inaccurate results and to call the store next time. Okay, that is understandable. The next thing is what threw me off. She said she didn't have access to a $20 return and that I had to wait for her team leader because they had just gone to break. I am sorry but there is no was any person would be okay with this. She told me that I had to wait in a full capacity store for 15 minutes while. We waited and the next thing we witnessed we just couldn't believe. An employee needed a head count to see if it was okay to let more customers in. This employee berated his fellow co-worker and exclaimed, "Where's my head count! I told you I needed a head count! Hurry up! OMG." I got second hand embarrassment for the co-worker. Finally, the team lead was off her break, there was no apology made for the wait nor was there a gratitude mentioned for my patience. I know for a fact if roles were switch they wouldn't deal with this nonsense. I warn you guys if you go to this store location be prepared for the...
Read moreI was just at this store location with my sister. We didn’t notice until we had walked out that one of the staff members there had been following us throughout the store. My sister noticed that he had followed us through each isle and it didn’t become apparent until we walked outside and went to browse what was in their kiosk outside of the store. This individual didn’t even greet us or address us as customers while we were at the store. It’s extremely unacceptable and disrespectful to feel that we were followed and not addressed. I would hate to say that they were following us due to our race or any other reason but this is what it appeared to be. We will not be returning to this box lunch. I wish To give half a star or no...
