Based on my experiences with 2 of the OWNERS, Chagrin Pet & Garden Supply is not a good place to spend your money.
I needed to replace one of my larger Stihl chainsaws so I called some of the area dealerships. I got a great price from one dealer who is over an hour away so I stopped in Chagrin Pet & Garden Supply to see if they'd match the price. Mike in the showroom was not able to offer anything other than list price and took down my contact info.
Travis - one of the owners - called me back in short order. Not only did he say he'd beat the price by $5, Chagrin Pet & Garden Supply would also give me a sixer of HP Ultra oil. I was pretty happy at this point. The only catch was that I had to provide a written quote from the other dealer. I expressed concern that I would get the competing dealer into trouble with 'corporate' (I don't do business that way). Travis assured me that the quote I brought in to him would NOT be used to get the other dealer into trouble with Stihl USA.
Long story made short, I got the written quote and went back to Chagrin Pet & Garden Supply to buy a saw.
I asked for Travis, but was introduced to his brother Todd - also an owner. Not only did Todd berate me in front of his staff, he also told me he "hates people who work dealerships for price." As if this weren't enough, during Todd's soapbox sermon on how to maintain good business relationships, he said three times that any written competitor's quote below Stihl USA guidelines goes directly back to the corporate offices so they can deal with the competing dealership from that end. I decided not to share the competitor quote or buy a saw that day. Todd said as he walked away from me: "I have 3 of (that saw) in stock, come see me when you want to pay for good service." HA! I hope all 3 are still in his stockroom.
I do want to point out that Travis called me back after I posted this review. He let me know that he needs the competitor quote not to send back to corporate, but to cover his backside if corporate found out that he sold me a saw below Stihl pricing guidelines. I have modified the above review as a result our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLOVE THIS PLACE!!! I moved to the area 1 year ago and bought enough land I NEEDED a yard tractor and they were they only ones around that could get the order filled, I also got snow blade, weights, trolly cart, bagger and other accessories!!! Order completed no problem! Had to weight closer to winter for the snow blade obviously for manufacturing reason, through the season Iāve bought over 150+ packs of seed and 25lb of grass seed and my garden tools and accessories. I aswell bought my stihl 362cm here as well. When I come in they obviously know me by name now and itās always a warm welcome. Also know that BEFORE is have been a loyal customer of CP&G before spending a dollar here they treated me so welcome and helping me get what I need for my home, property, and pets. Theyāve never made me feel like I need to spend a dollar, nor steered me towards spending more than needed. Anytime I have questions on equipment I call Alex (in the back building) and he always takes the time to help and again he was that way before I ever spent a dollar here. Instead of ever trying to upswell me Alex always asks what is my intent and what do I need to get done. Thatās why I have a stihl 362 and not stihl 660. For the first time in a long time we have found a place that treats us like family at the door and we are very loyal to this amazing and wonderful place that just makes you feel good just walking in. If youāve never been in I HIGHLY recommend! Be careful itās EASY to fall in love with this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took my L110 lawn tractor tire in because it was exhibiting signs of a slow leak. The service was quick and professional but the charges seem a bit excessive. I understand inflation and definitely miss the days when plugging a tire was 20 bucks I got a call from the service tech telling me they plugged the small leak and the bill was $54. $36 for labor for 20 min at $120 hr. That leaves $18. $18 for a tire plug?? Seems excessive to me. Then he called back to tell me he noticed the sidewall was cracked, so heād like to add a tube at $22. He would cut me a break on the labor for the tube because he should have caught it before. Again, I was treated very well by the employees. I pick the tire up and the cost breakdown on the receipt also says $5 for Admin Service/ Parts Labor and $5 for HH &W/B Shop Supplies/ Environment. I spent most my career in purchasing and I understand pricing practices and this looks like a typical case of ā weāre not making enough money so we need to add a very non-specific chargeā. These ā Extras = $10ā on the receipt should be baked in to the parts and labor. $10 is not a lot of money to me but I have a right not to feel ripped off, Mr or Ms Owner. Oh, the final...
