My partner and I came into Robert’s for a ring sizing about two months before our wedding – we had pretty much decided on buying our wedding bands from an online store. Cindy began chatting with us about what sort of styles we were looking at or interested in and explained their custom jewelry design, really bringing us into the process in a way a lot of other jewelers we spoke with didn’t. Most jewelers have a catalog of design options that allow you to build your own ring from various templates they have, but at Robert’s they use hand drawn designs and really go to lengths to create your ring from scratch making it as uniquely yours as you want. By the end of the day we were convinced we wanted to do this custom design process, in great part because of the no-pressure, inclusive way they shared their work. Cindy had drawings ready for us by the end of the week, wax carvings for us to try on by the next week and the finished product just a couple weeks after that. If you need a vintage watch serviced by an honest and experienced watchmaker, Robert's is THE place to go to in the Urbana-Champaign area. I got a vintage automatic watch from the 1960s sent in for checkup, and he recommended a full service. My watch was running like 3-5 minutes slow a day and would sometimes just skip/stop. I asked Robert if he could get it within a minute per day so it's at least usable. Well, following the service, this thing is running like -5 seconds per day on average when worn, which is EXCELLENT especially for a watch that's like 50 years old. Did I mention the price for this servicing ended up being like 4 to 10 times LESS expensive than what was quoted by other jewelry shops in the area? I was trying to figure out where to go to get my ring removed and turned into a pendant. I went on a fb group with brought me to here. I realized I had been there in 2017 and it was such good customer service I decided to try again. The ring removal was so easy! They explained what they were doing, reassuring me there's a gaurd between my finger and the cutting mechanism. My fingers had swollen but it was off in a snap. We discussed right away on how to restyle the ring into a pendant and chain options, as well as lengths. They were so kind, and helpful. Both women were very personable and made me feel comfortable.
