When I called admissions on their mainline so that I could get an email to send my specific inquiry to, the lady kept on asking me what is my question. I had to repeat it several times, and was completely confused when she repeated her statement multiple times.
She said that she would transfer me to someone if I asked her a question to whom I needed to reach. In the end, when I asked her my question with myself having nothing else to say or hide she replied by saying "Oh my goodness!" and transferred my phone call to a dead phone line, where no one was there to answer my inquiry.
This is not the first time I had issues with this office.
All other departments I called at UNC are extremely helpful, polite, and patient with my inquiries. And they actually try their best at answering them or pointing me to the right resource. I can not say the same with the admissions office.
From this point on, I would recommend emailing them. It is the only way to reach out to someone who can help you. Calling their main line is a complete waste of your precious time without an appointment from one of their admissions officers.
Save yourself the trouble, email, do not call them unless you have an appointment with someone...

I note many of the negative reviews are 2-5 years old. I'd give them another chance as they've clearly taken corrective measures. I think you'll be pleasantly...
Read moreI’ve been a student at UNC for 4 years - never try to call the admissions office. The receptionists are extraordinarily rude and unhelpful people who seem annoyed that sometimes they actually are asked to do their job. In fact, I’ve never met anyone helpful in-person from this office, either. Really strange because everyone else at UNC is very friendly and inviting. Don’t let any experience you may have with these people taint your perception of the school as a whole, however. It’s a wonderful place outside of the...
