Oh honey. We couldn't get past the phone call to even get going. Here's what happened. I called Sunday 5:17p to get pricing for Medium KnotLess and learn if they have grey/silver. Woman answers says it's $180-205. No, $185-205. Me: Ok. Do you have grey or ombre with grey or silver? Her: She thinks they have some grey. Do you want to come today? Me: Is there a better day when you know you'll get grey/or anything silver in? I can book for then. Wait how long will medium KnotLess take? Go the bra strap? Her: Ohhh, well if you come today it'll be 3-3.5 hours with 2 ladies. Me: ok, and if I come at 5am? Her: around 6 -7 hours.
We disconnect with I'll be in touch. Talk to my family as 8p is bedtime for we depart430a for work. It's decided no biggie as it's better than another day that'll be late for pickups.
I call back after mapping the address and packing up.
Me: ma'am, I just called. Will you be in the salon or do I ask for someone? Her: how long will it be? Me: Google maps says 22 minutes. Her: okay, I'll let them know Me: do you take credit cards? Tap n pay? How do you take your money? Her: I couldn't understand but I heard Zelle. Me: Good. I can Zelle. What determines $185 or $205? Her: I need to see your hair. Me: ok, I can text and happy to get it resolved as I don't want to drive all the way over nor do I want any misunderstandings Her: ok. No text. It'll be $205. It won't go over $205. Me: Ok, no thank you. Her: hang up. ** I can laugh as I know Auntie uses WhatsApp to talk to folks back home but I guess she didn't even want to hear or offer ... She can see my hair via video or WhatsApp.
I wish I had recorded so there's no debate about anything. I'm starting to realize ... People hate Black hair or They Hate the clientele That's just it. I was eager to try the place as 5a would help tremendously but I can't do 7 hours which may run over as I have a 1p pickup. And, nope I'm never the one to rush a stylist neither braider.
Sadly, I've just been exposed to better and I'm beyond tired of the shenanigans while I'm definitely not the target market of social media promoter as I'm honest with all reviews. no one wants to drive across town to be disappointed with color choices or a bad style no one wants to lose their edges so trying someone new BECAUSE you're new in town is already a crap shot no one wants a poor experience. I'm sure we all want a great final project with good service so we have a permanent go to place that will take care of us. I can appreciate not knowing and saying it but go find out. I can appreciate needing to see something but I'm the day and age of video and pictures then jump on WhatsApp and check me out. It's called a consult or virtual review if a label is needed

I arrive at the scheduled time and the braider was running 35 minutes late. No big deal things happen. Then she comes in as if she didn’t want to do my hair. Her whole energy was off. She asked me about money twice. What are you paying with? I said cash. I said the owner said 275. Did you give it to her? I said no I’m paying you. This she starts braiding yanking the tangles aggressively… As polite as she attempted to be her attitude gave I do not want to be here. Then in French I hear money several times in the conversations she had. Now if you didn’t want to do it I would have gladly accepted a no. I would have even left a deposit if money was the issue. As a consumer that operates in integrity I would have never not paid for a service. Even though I’m not satisfied with the braids I paid$280 and prayed the whole time she was in my head. Once she finish she showed me a price of 280 on the phone and asked again what the owner said. I said she told me 275 but I gave you 280. I would have gave more but I have never experienced this level of service in Charlotte. The braiders are usually polite and act like they appreciate you as a customer. I will say a lady name Fatima and the other woman on another customer’s head was fantastic. They tagged team the customer and gave her great service and was humming at one point. She out that salon looking like a star. Go see Fatima and the other lady if you have to go. My braider finished but didn’t brother to trim the stray hairs from the Boho. I’m not super picky about boxes but you can tell this was rushed…. I say all this to say, treat every customer with dignity..You never know when an Angel is coming your way. You never know how they will bless you. I now have to run back to my old braider to correct the stray hairs or just try to fix the style all together (see pics day one) FYI older braider never asked me several times about pay. I ASKED THE PRICE AND SHE WAS HONEST AND SAID, IT DEPENDS ON THE STYLE AND LENTGH. WHEN I ARRIVED FATIMAH GREETED ME AND ASSISTED IN PRICING. ALTHOUGH I CHANGED MY ORIGINAL STYLE FROM MY CONVO WITH THE OWNER, FATIMAH WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING. THE WAY THEY WORK AS A TEAM, HELPS YOU GET OUT QUICKLY BUT STILL PROVIDING EXCELLENT SERVICE. THE OWNER CAME AND WALKED OVER AND GREETED ME. THAT WAS TOP TIER. FATIMAH WAS VERY GENTLE AND DIDN’T HAVE ME LEAVING WITH MY HEAD SORE. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY HAIR. THE COST AND THE CLEANLINESS OF THE SHOP WAS A DEAL BREAKER FOR ME. I RECOMMEND THIS SHOP 1,000%. I BROUGHT MY OWN HAIR AND RECEIVED A DISCOUNT THAT I DIDN’T EVEN ASK FOR, TALK ABOUT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I AM A BRAIDER IN MY SPARE TIME MYSELF AND ENJOYED RECEIVING THE TYPE OF TREATMENT I WOULD GIVE TO MY CLIENTS. I WILL BE BACK TO TRY ANOTHER STYLE.
