I’ve visited this location several times. The first time, everything I ordered was available and served properly. However, on multiple return visits, they had no food available. On my most recent visit, I called ahead to confirm availability. Abdullah personally assured me that food would be ready, so I placed my order and made the 55-minute drive to the restaurant.

When I arrived, not only was there no food prepared for me, but Abdul completely ignored the situation. I asked the staff where he was, and even though he was present, he didn’t come out to speak with me, explain the issue, or take any responsibility. His lack of professionalism was shocking. He made a promise, failed to deliver, and then avoided me entirely like it wasn’t his problem. There was no apology, no effort to fix the issue, and no basic courtesy.

I find this level of service completely unacceptable. Abdul's behavior was not only unprofessional—it was disrespectful. If he is going to manage orders and make customer commitments, then he should at least have the decency to speak with customers when something goes wrong.

This experience was frustrating, disappointing, and a complete waste of my time. If this is how the business continues to operate under Abdul’s management, then the owners seriously need to consider either finding someone more competent and respectful—or closing the...

Whoa, okay this place was a trip. Went here with my wife and it was probably the most awkward experience we have ever had at a restaurant in a very long time. We walk in and theres like 4 ladies working behind the counter, they literally just stare at us the whole time as we stare back. I end up going up to the counter after 5 minutes and asking if we order up front or if we take a seat. One guy, I think the manager, told us we could sit down wherever and someone would talk our order. It was so awkward that we opted to sit in the hookah lounge, although neither of us wanted hookah. One girl comes and takes our order and brings us a green tea and a yemeni milk tea, without saying anything or bringing even small saucers for the tea bag and spoon. One of the cups starts leaking out the bottom and we ended up needing to get another tea. Entire time it was awkward and just weird vibes, even though the inside of the place is nice. We wanted to hang out, get food and just chill before a flight, but we ended up going somewhere else for food. This place has potential, the tea was good and its very reasonably priced. But they need to fix the service issues and the vibe of the place, very awkward...

Finally Charlotte is graced with a Yemeni Restaurant! We had the opportunity to try Chicken Mandi and the Lamb Haneeth. The Mandi was my favorite. Smoky melt in your mouth Chicken laid on a bed of flavor rich rice. Want to live on the wild side, add some of their fresh spicy salsa to the mix. If they had a milder version available I would of used so much more!

They were a bit short staffed and were kind enough to bring out a pot of chai while we waited for our Togo order. That chai was absolutely perfect to end our meal. Do yourself a favor and get a pot. One cup won't suffice!

My kiddos enjoyed the kids meal they had a skewers of chicken or beef kabob over fries and a juice. Well worth the 6.99!

I also would like to say I loved the design inside with the back lit mosaic walls and the adorable coffee bar. There was also a lovely prayer nook by the entrance if you needed to make salah!

I look forward to enjoying again! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to get a picture of the food we were...

I have mixed reviews about this place, the food we tried was good but not completely satisfied from the Mediterranean food I had tried in the past, maybe I feel they have started new and still need time to plan and operate. We tried the breakfast lamb stir fry , lamb haneeth, Yemen milk tea and liked all the dishes, the breakfast lamb dish is good and unique that I haven’t tried in any of the Mediterranean restaurants before, the lamb haneeth comes with rice and salad was also very good, the meat was very fresh and cooked well and we enjoyed it, we wanted to try the lentils soup which was not available, falafel was also not available the time we went and so do their smoothies, I wish they bring all of the items in the menu available so this could be better place to enjoy the whole cuisine.

5 Stars – A Hidden Gem! Retaj Middle Eastern Food is absolutely phenomenal. The food is incredibly authentic and bursting with rich, delicious flavor—every bite felt like a trip straight to the Middle East. From the perfectly seasoned meats to the fresh, flavorful sides, everything was spot-on. What really makes this place shine, though, is the people. The staff is unbelievably kind and accommodating. You can feel the warmth and hospitality from the moment you walk in. They truly treat you like family. I can’t say enough good things. This is one of those spots you remember and definitely come back to. Highly, highly recommend!
