Update on 10/8/23 to my original post from June: Changed from 3 stars to 2 stars (only because 1.5 stars is not an option). Honestly, the housekeeping is, and has been, sub-par. I'd like to be objective and give the staff the benefit of the doubt. However, based on my personal observations, the associates who are tasked with maintaining the upkeep of the locker rooms, sauna, and showers are, well, inept and lazy. All three toilet stalls were lacking the single-use toilet seat protective covers on a recent weekday visit. Today (Sunday), all three were lacking any toilet paper. Additionally, there was trash and debris everywhere, the sauna and jacuzzi look totally gross, the two trash cans were overfilled with litter (a common sight), and the showers are far from appearing sanitary. One has been missing its soap dispenser for a while. Refer to uploaded pics.

Original post from June: Decent gym, solid three stars, maybe 3.5 on a good day. It definitely is Not a 4 or 5 star gym. Not for someone who trains and is a serious lifter. Not the most efficient use of floor space. More squat racks, please! Weight room could be bigger, too. My impression is they're catering to a specific, you could say, more mature demographic. No basketball or racquetball courts. Dumbells increment every 2.5 lbs., which is a plus. The sauna is nice, but it is obvious that a daily hose down is not happening. And there are already (new 2023 gym) build issues with the sauna's woodwork. Men's locker room is spacious with decently...

Ok so after today I seriously had to take a moment and give the front desk staff kudos. I have been a gym brat for years but never have I experienced this level of customer service at a gym. So my husband and I have been members of planet fitness, anytime fitness, gold's gym and fitness connection. However this LAFITNESS is top tier. I normal walk in, work out and leave. However I had to ask the front desk guy his name today because he totally made me feel seen. Ok so Ruben noticed my normal routine and if he noticed mines he is definitely paying attention to those entering and exiting , and all in-between. So I haven't been to the gym for a while and he noticed that. Since I have suffered a foot injury he noticed not only my absence but offered concerned for the fact that I was injured. IF the paper towel machine was out I could alert him and my next visit boom all filled. When he went on vacation a few months ago, his presence was missing. It's truly something about walking into a gym at 5 am to do something you have to do , when you don't want to do it , but be greeted by such a cheery smile. He ROCKS! To be honest he holds me to my comments of "see ya tomorrow when I leave post workout". If I don't show up for the next day he will say " ok so you skipping days".

It's ok, but the location is great. So glad to have an indoor pool and hot tub in North CLT.

But, the women's hot tub (which was the reason I got this membership - to compliment my regular PT), is always out of service. Really. 60% of the time, it's not operating. This is a new gym. It didn't work for nearly 2 months at open. Now it's off and on still. I call first, they say its open. And it isn't. ATP, they should note it in the app. I've wasted several trips.

Three weeks ago, roaches almost got into my gym bag. Real ones, not water bugs. Sigh. Glad I use clear bags and take minimal "junk". My bag fell on the floor, and it's expected to have creepies around a pool. But dang, I almost took them home.

Gym is clean-ish and nice in the mornings. At close, not so much. There is little maintenance during the day. Poolside showers ALWAYS have gnats. Wth? Staff is nice tho.

Overall, it's OK, I've been a member since open. Had memberships in 4 states, prob 12 years as I travel a lot. But, this is all we have on the north end for a decent pool without kids, So,🤷🏽‍♂️. It's owned by the Ballentyne location guy. I like that one better and was commuting all covid before this one opened.

The gas cost savings is worth me staying here, and ballentyne doesnt have an "optional" hot tub.
