Dine in as group of 6 people on July 4th (Sunday). We were the last customers. Great menu and waiter was friendly. We did order too much food which came to the total of $370. Waiter was shocked to see us order the food lol.
For the 1st time in USA, I am seeing an Indian restaurant with Stainless steel tumblers (cups) and plates. We glad and appreciate that.
All the Indo-Chinese dishes (chilly idly, and Manchurians) were too sour. It was just over powering the taste. And it was too orange in color. Not good and I couldn't recommend these dishes.
Goat briyani was bland and the tested real bad. Masala did not mix well. One of my friends who loves briyani, even he couldn't eat it. We had to throw it.
Goat Sukka and lamb pepper fry were okie but goat pieces were dry.
Chicken Sukka briyani was great in taste, everyone liked it. We expected this taste with Goat Briyani, but in vain.
Sambar was watery and bland. Chutneys were good.
Chole Bhature - Chole tasted great. But Bhature had the Maida still in there. Not properly fried. Dough under fried.
Veggie noodles - noodles felt like hard to chew but taste was okie.
Veggie briyani - we did not taste it. So no comments.
Puri was decent and masal was good.
Naan - it can't be mistaken. So no comments.
All the curries that goes with Naan tasted real good.
Mango lassie - I dint not taste curd (yogurt) in it. It was milk shake kinda, no one liked it. We threw it away.
Gulaab Jaamun is no where near home made ones. They are ready made and it's a different flour mixed with the actual flour. The balls were rubbery outside and tasted different inside.
Carrot Halwa - It was okie. Not so great.
Fresh lime soda - it was refreshing.
Curd rice - in the end. The one thing everyone liked and no comments. Simply awesome.
Over all. I won't be returning to...
Read moreHello everyone! Previous to going to the restaurant, I called them and asked if Butter Chicken has any kind of nuts in it or not, since my wife is allergic to peanuts and tree-nuts. The lady who received my call told me that she doesn’t know about it, and hence she will ask the Chef and will get back to me in a few minutes, which she did.
My wife and I arrived in the restaurant and got seated by the server pretty quickly. While taking our orders I communicated to the server that my wife is allergic to peanuts, treenuts and any kind of nuts. Before ordering we also asked him if a certain dishes on the menu has any kind of nuts or not, which he said he doesn’t know. The server said that he will communicate to Chef not to put any nuts in the food. But when our appetizer arrived (Samosa), it had cashews. By the time that I found that Samosa has cashew my wife had already ate 1 samosa. Upon asking him about the cashew, the server said that the samosa has peanuts and/or nuts (apparently he failed to realize that when we were placing an order).
It seems like the Servers aren’t really educated about food allergies and their impact. The server was dumbfounded when I mentioned to him that my wife can potentially die because of the allergic reaction from nuts like cashews.
By the time we reached the Emergency Room my wife had already started breathing wheezily. But we were in luck to see a nurse in time at the Emergency Room nearby. They provided her with anti-histamines (Benadryl).
Owner should train their staff about food allergies, their impact and they definitely should include more details on their menu. I have eaten at numerous Indian restaurants before with my wife, and miscommunication like this has never occurred before. I hope that the restaurant improve...
Read moreI had heard great things about this place so made a mistake to take my client expecting it would be a nice experience but unfortunately, it was exactly opposite. Let's drill down:
Food: If you are spending 10+ for a lunch, it ought to be good but I was taken aback not just by the quality of their food but also by their freshness. Most of the food items are "preserved" from past days and they smell horrible if you know the real taste. Most people eat unknowingly as they think it must be how it tastes. I am really surprised that they are even running their operations with that type of quality. I wonder where those health inspectors are, if they were to go a thorough inspection, these guys will get 0 in hygiene and health.
Service: Ok, so you don't have good food but what about service? The service staff doesn't even bother to greet, provide info. Forget that, they look like they are in the "maharajah" of this Tajmahal and wear that attitude. Either they are being overpaid or not paid at all but they do add to your frustration.
Ambiance: In this department, they did earn some points from me, they did a good job to overall create an overall ok ambiance.
Then I hear you ask, why the heck they are having a 4+ rating. Ok, good question, they were not really bad when they started. It all built up to their reputation and "Persis" is a reputed name in India so they started with a bang but failed to live up to the expectations for whatever reasons. Do yourself a favor, spend your 10+ dollars for lunch on a near-by Blue Taj, they have great food and made fresh to your taste. I am not going there or recommending this...
