I elected for Costner Law to complete the seller's closing portion of my home. They were horrible, they started the title search the day before the closing date; they found issues with the title and emailed my agent late that evening before the scheduled closing date so she could ask me information about the HUD. The next day we showed up to the closing and instead of meeting the attorney for the closing we signed with a notary public. The attorney never showed up for the singing but later that evening emailed my agent to inform her that the closing did not go through because they were not able to resolve the title issues. This lack of communication went on for weeks and they would not provide details to me or my agent of what was going on. I called the attorney and her assistant to offer any information that may help speed up the process, but I never got a call back. Finally, after the process went on for weeks my agent encouraged me to hire my own attorney so I could get information. Even after I hired an attorney Costner Law attorney would not return my attorney's phone calls. I did my own research and found out that they could have handled the issues with title very easy if they asked me for information about the title insurance I had...
Read moreAs someone who did use them for their closing , I would definitely NOT recommend them. In fact, I would RUN as fast as you can to anyone else. Not only did they make a mistake on our closing and give almost 10K to a contractor upfront who never completed the work. When I contacted them a few months after closing to inquire about the money I was told that they were never told that to hold the money (lie) and that if they were supposed to then it was our realtors fault for not letting them know. I believed them and we continued to reach out to the contractor to try and get our work completed or our money back to have someone else complete the work. In passing about another real estate transaction,my husband spoke to our old realtor and he sent us documentation that showed that Costner should have kept the money in an escrow account. Even after sending this information they chose not to help us recoup our funds or do anything because the statue of limitations for their mistake had just expired. This law firm is unprofessional and unethical and I would seriously reconsider ever using them for your real estate...
Read moreEverything. My closing operated like a Amazon Distribution center. The paralegal was unwelcoming and appeared annoyed at the fact that I wanted to sign the documents with my full name.
She had zero ability or willingness to explain any of the documentation and rushed through the closing as though she had better things to do. My closing was interrupted 6xs by another person who worked in the ofc. There was no excuse or apology given.
Lastly the atty was not much better. They were unable to find the funds transfer from my loan servicer and would not provide the keys to my home. I left the ofc only to be told 2hrs later that the funds had miraculously showed.
I worked in banking and I'm certain the funds were there, they were just looking in the wrong acct. I advised the atty there is a person at the end of a closing transaction and although you are running it like a Chipotle line that is not the experience a home owner should receive. Costner couldn't close on a dog house for me in the future and Lennar homes should really reconsider their partnership with this...
