I have been going to this location for over 15 years and it has always been my #1 pick. Recently, there are some concerns with the overall cleanliness of the movie theater. I have experienced abundant trash laying on the floor in the lobby, not fully cleaned theaters, etc, which all isn't that big of a deal. The main focus of this review besides the overall cleanliness, is last night I went to Theater 10 to see a movie with my family. When I first got into the theater 10, I was overwhelmed by a nasty smell. The only thing I can liken it to is the smell of a car's interior after it gets flooded (ie, nasty wet carpet that got 100% soaked, then left to slowly dry). Maybe even moldy / mildewy. It was noticeable the whole movie.
We have seen facebook posts where people are claiming mice are running under their feet in this theater. Why would I have believed that, until last night? I felt gross and sticky in the seat the whole time, which the seats have been in a state of extreme disrepair for the last 10 years I've gone. I remember them when they were new, and years after they were new, and it has never been this bad. Regal Stonecrest was the first theater in the Charlotte area to have these nice seats and now they are the worst out of every theater that now also has these seats.
Here is the real issue: I decided to smell my pants this morning after last night, and my pants smelled like rodent urine. So did my family's. Think what you want to with that information, but it is telling me that there might be a serious infestation in that theater and they are peeing all over the seats, likely rodent droppings everywhere, which can lead to a VERY serious disease called hantavirus. If this is not taken seriously, someone could get seriously sick and potentially die from this. Hantavirus is not something to mess around with. You get it from rodent droppings being disturbed and the particles fly into the air, you breathe them in, then you get hantavirus. I might believe that the overwhelming smell was actually extremely concentrated rodent urine.
I highly recommend that this theater be investigated and see what is going on. For now, I will likely take a very long break from visiting this theater and I really hope it turns around as I have many priceless memories since I was a kid coming here. It's likely not just theater 10, but every part of that building.
ADDITIONAL EDIT: Looked at their health inspection report from Mecklenburg County, they also don't store their food waste properly in the kitchen. This means the rodents get to feast in the kitchen as well, which usually should be a cleaner environment. Note that this is CONTINUOUS REPEAT OFFENSE for their last few health inspections:
"5-501.110 Keep waste stored in receptacles so waste is inaccessible to insects and rodents. Observed trash outside of the waste receptacle and what appear to be liquid from the trash seeping into the surrounding area. REPEAT...
Read moreEdit: 7 Years makes a big difference: A V O I D ... I will absolutely not be going back here. It had been a while since my last visit, but I live closer to this theater now, so it made sense - this place used to be a special treat for big releases.
I went to see Deadpool at 2pm on a Saturday - It wasn't nearly as packed as you'd think for a big release like that, which makes everything so much worse.
The concessions line was barely moving, it took 15 minutes to get snacks, which... cost about $45 (2 candies, 1 popcorn, 2 drinks). The tickets were about $20 or so. All together about a $65 event.
In the past, I didn't mind the premium, but with long lines, out of order bathrooms, disgusting popcorn and drink stations, it's just not worth it.
There was trash all around both stations. The drink area was just soaking wet, which is understandable, people are messy. But you'd think they'd have someone periodically wipe it down. It didn't look like anything had been tidied up since they opened for the day.
On top of that, the bathrooms smelled awful, plural, because I used two different ones. So this tells me that they just lack an understanding of how to clean.
Then in the actual theater, seats were still messy, cup holders full of stuff from the previous group.
For this next part, please keep in mind, I'm 29, I do not have an aversion to loud noises, but they had some trailers that would blare to the point of distorting the audio, and others at a normal volume, the bouncing back and forth made for an insanely unpleasant experience.
Anyway, I could go on. But overall, for a Saturday afternoon, I'd have expected a premium theater to be a MUCH better experience. I'd avoid this place at all costs.
Original: Above average theater.
Nicer part of town, good selection of snacks, plenty of showtimes.
Only downside is it is expensive, and I mean more expensive than most theaters. But you won't be dissatisfied with your viewing...
Read moreNot a good experience at all with regal theaters and will not be returning. I just went to see Superman in imax. To start, ticket prices with regal on average are a lot higher than other theaters and with the higher prices, you'd think you were paying for a premium experience but this not the case. Drink machines not only have subpar selections, the area was filthy and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned all day. There was no ice in any of the soda dispensers on the left side of the theater and the soda came out of the machine warm and flat. The showtime for the movie was for 7pm and the crew didn't finish "cleaning" the auditorium until a little after 6:55pm. Then the trailers/previews didn't actually start until about 7:20. Then there were the chairs. These chairs are the absolute WORST in any theater I've ever been to. Not only are the uncomfortable, my chair had no leather left on it at all and the "cleaning" crew somehow missed that each cupholder on both sides of me were filled with water. Again, I saw Superman in IMAX which is a premium screen and after sitting down in the chair, I quickly noticed that the barrier wall between the aisles cuts off the bottom of the screen. Which "geniuses" at regal missed that?! The poor kid sitting next to me could barely see the movie. Lastly this IMAX screen was very tiny. Didn't feel like IMAX at all and was not much bigger than a regular screen. I would recommend spending your money with a better movie theater chain like AMC or a local movie theater near you. My experience with regal overall has been awful I would never come back. Simply put, if you want a good experience,...
