Exceptionally convenient clean hotel. As Hilton Diamond member family we’ve stayed in many Home2Suites. It’s a fantastic concept in that the rooms are larger than most (especially mobility accessible which we require) and the rooms sleep 6 with full kitchens and dishwashers! While they tend to be a bit noisy at times if there is a sports team or family above you, usually it’s not an issue. Handicap accessible parking is provided in quantity at this Piper Glen location although we didn’t see any Diamond member parking spots. There was adequate room for a trailer or large vehicle to turn around carefully or park to side if needed. Home2Suites accept pets but we have never had a room that smelled like it. Breakfast tends to be ample if you have no diet restrictions and go early but usually it’s carb heavy and not much to suit our gluten free dairy free needs. This location had fewer options and we missed the typical bakery muffins. There was a large laundry/fitness room and indoor pool with mobility lift as well. While the outside of the building is nice with stone columns accenting architecture befitting it’s location in the upscale promenade with pedestrian crosswalk to many walkable restaurants and shoppes, there was SO much trash outside that was really surprising. The grounds outside had trash in bushes and grass and if you went towards the sidewalks nearby just amazing amount of garbage not befitting the location. It did feel very safe though and much more grass and walking areas than usual for pet needs. A greenway is just a few miles down the road as well. You can walk to anything you could possibly need from Target to ChickfilA to a veterinarian or Starbucks. The breakfast cafe menu across the road looked awesome. The fountains and seating areas abound if you wanted to work outdoors on laptop at hotel or at coffee shop. While the rooms were showing their age a bit, especially mattresses and wear of bathroom fixture or tile etc, the staff made up for any shortcomings!! We interacted with perhaps 8 different staff serving in various capacities and each was cheerful friendly and smiling as well as happy to assist. Clearly the team is happy and they keep everything as clean as possible! The maintenance staff was actively working to repair trouble areas such as tile ordered to replace cracked piece etc. We were content with our visit and would...
Read moreHave not had a real vacation in years and decided to go out for a weekend. We saw the reviews and it has a nice shopping center in front of the hotel and thought it would be great.
1st night we went in saw hair everywhere in the shower, bathroom floor, kitchen floor. There was hair on the back pillows in the bed and one part of the bed smelled musty as in BO musty. That morning as I’m getting ready I went over to the nightstand to grab something and see something moving on my pillow I go to check to see what it was - a bed bug.
Immediately called the front desk. Dominique offered to move our rooms and we asked to move completely far away from that side of the hotel. We got into the second room, it looked a lot cleaner. No sign of hair and looked a lot better than the first room. Checked the bed and saw nothing. The desk chair had crumbs and other debris on it. We lugged all of our things into the new room and went about our day. Came back after a long day at Carowinds and we’re getting ready for bed, I hop into the bed and guess what I see. ANOTHER bed bug on the pillow AGAIN, it’s moving and I’m just horrified because I’m thinking there’s no way this is happening. We are so tired and ready to sleep and but did not feel comfortable sleeping there. So we pack up leave and go down to the front desk and calmly explain what has happened and asked that we please just be checked out and refunded for the stay.
The woman said she could not refund me for the previous night and for me to call the reservation line. Did not at all apologize for the issue or express any sort of sympathy that it was almost midnight and now we have to find another place to stay. She did check us out and said she would refund us for that night.
It had been a very eventful weekend not the way I planned and was a huge...
Read moreOn the one hand, the physical building and layout of the rooms are quite nice. Granted, it came with a bit of extra cost, but I liked the room layout. On the other hand, the execution of the stay was lacking. In the room we had, the sink drained was clogged and there was no hot running water in the shower or bathroom sink most of the time. We found that the Hot water would come in and out depending on the time of day and no one was there to unclog the drain during our stay. While I understand the reason for bagged breakfasts, not making enough that they ran out 1.5 hours before the end of breakfast. Or so the front desk attendant said. The next day I went to go get my bag within the first 15 minutes of breakfast, and received a complimentary lemon milk. Yes, it had been expired for a few weeks and went sour and chunky, yet somehow made the bag. Maybe they hadn't ran out the day before after all. It was also odd to have a bagged breakfast, but no requirement or even a please wear masks in common areas given the time period that we visited and cdc guidelines, but not surprised either. They took down the "please limit the elevator to two people or one party" while we were there, which was a bummer given the size of the elevator. It wasn't uncommon for rude people to try to board a full elevator thinking that they could just "squeeze in". 2 adults and two with a cart and luggage = full elevator. The night attendant was awesome, he deserves a raise. He is the reason the review is 2 star not one. Took a sweet tea spill by another guest with a sense of humor. Pool was standard hotel. Cleaning staff was...
