My recent stay at Residence Inn by Marriott in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte, North Carolina, was a mixed experience that had its highs and lows. First and foremost, the comfort of the beds deserves commendation. They provided a restful night's sleep, allowing me and my two sons, who accompanied me for a sporting competition, to wake up refreshed and ready for the day ahead. Additionally, the staff exhibited exceptional friendliness throughout my stay. From check-in to check-out, their warmth and hospitality were evident, making me feel welcome and valued as a guest, as well as making my sons feel at ease in a new environment. One aspect that stood out positively was the hotel's location in a safe area, providing peace of mind during my visit with my children. Moreover, the breakfast offered was delightful, with a variety of options to cater to different preferences, setting a positive tone for the day. However, my experience was marred by some minor inconveniences. The toilet in my room had issues with flushing correctly during the initial days of my stay. While the maintenance team promptly addressed the issue, it unfortunately resurfaced shortly after being fixed. Additionally, while the rooms were generally clean, there were noticeable areas where minor touch-ups were needed, indicating a potential for improvement in housekeeping standards. Furthermore, it became apparent that the hotel could benefit from a renovation to modernize its facilities and enhance the overall guest experience. Despite these shortcomings, the front desk staff, including Mr. Francis, stood out for their exceptional service and hospitality, which was especially appreciated as I navigated my stay with my sons for the competition. In conclusion, my stay at Residence Inn by Marriott in Ballantyne, Charlotte, was characterized by comfortable beds, friendly staff, and a safe location, providing a suitable base for my sons and me during our sporting competition. However, issues with room maintenance and cleanliness, coupled with the need for renovation, detracted from the overall experience. Nonetheless, the exemplary service provided by individuals like Mr. Francis leaves a lasting positive impression.||||...

Read moreUpdated review July 2024: it was so incredibly loud last night. Downgrading review from 4 stars to 2 stars.
From people screaming at the top of their lungs (inside the hotel) to adults being insanely loud in the parking lot outside our room (first floor this time), we were up nearly all night. This hotel needs a makeover with soundproofing because it is way too easy to hear everything everywhere.
I was bummed our AC didn't provide any sound relief except for the few minutes it was on here and there. Even after dropping the temperature and telling the fan to run continuously, there was only any constant sound sporadically, which woke me up every time because it was SO loud to turn on. It got so hot and stuffy in the bedroom when the AC wasn't on.
I want to like this hotel because it's convenient and I've stayed here many times but it seems like every other stay is a bit of a disaster, which is extremely disappointing (and exhausting - not what I expect from a place I'm sleeping!) If you're a light sleeper that can't sleep through loud noise, you may want to look somewhere else.
Updated review: Last night's stay was much better. Quiet hours still begin at 10PM, but people seemed to go inside from the courtyard by 8ish, which was helpful for our toddler (& us). Beds are always comfy here. The AC was loud, but I appreciate a bit of constant noise at night. Updating my review from 3 stars to 4 stars.
Orignal review: The walls are paper thin and the windows don't keep out noise. We're currently staying pool-side on the 5th floor and I can hear people screaming, laughing, and clapping either nextdoor or underneath us, someone's playing basketball at night, and I can hear the people talking who are sitting at the fire pit. I wish they would close the outdoor amenities earlier (some of us have children and go to sleep before 10PM). They have a pool and hot tub, but they're outdoors and are closed in the fall/winter. The woman working the breakfast area this morning was very nice and the beds are comfy. I originally gave this place 5 stars 5 or 6 years ago, but did not have a 5-star stay this time. Just too...
