I've been a customer of Napa at Kinsley for 7 years , so decided to try Napa at Stonecrest. First experience was great so I was very excited to go back for a date night with my husband . We arrived at 6:40 , were seated right the way . Waitress comes and takes drinks order , I asked for a strawberry basil mojito which I must say is not on the menu but its a simple drink - white rum, strawberries , basil , and club soda .( specifically mentioned no lime, lemon or mint ) Before I order I asked does the bar have basil and strawberries and she said yes no problem we will make it , my husband ordered margarita . 25 minutes later she comes back with just margarita which is odd - (its a common serving etiquette when you have a party of more than one person , you don't serve one drink to one and the second person just sits there, same as you wouldn't serve food to just one person and others just sit watching them eat) and tells me bartender is still working on your drink. 10 mins later comes back with a bartender and says unfortunately we don't have strawberries , so 35 mins later no drink , there is already food ( appetizers ) on the table and me and bartender trying to figure out my drink so he says I will put lavender to sweeten it , ok waiting again she finally brings me my drink , I try and its just plain rum club soda and lemon , she is telling me he put lavender syrup to sweeten and add flavor yet lemon overpowers something subtle as lavender ,and I asked no lemon or lime previously so I ask her what other juices or fruit syrups they have to make this taste better , answer - we don't have any summer flavors , and I will give you time to figure out what you want and leaves . So I get up , walk over to the bar and speak with bartender , he says we have pineapple - great please add pineapple juice . At this point we already have been served our dinner , 10 mins later she brings me a brown muddled drink ( just from the look of it would make you throw up ) and say this reminds of bahama mama with dark rum Captain Morgan . So I kindly asked her please white rum , pineapple, basil and club soda . On the third try 50 mins later a manger brings me a great drink which takes 1 minute to make . Now we almost done with our food, server comes back and I ask for the check and my husband reminds her - I reordered my margarita like 15 mins ago , so she says I will check on that . 15 minutes later , I finished my drink, plates are empty and she brings him his second margarita, when we are ready to leave . Manager did take the drinks of the check and apologized for the wait , but this is not about the money - its about experience . Food was great but service horrible ( waitress acted annoyed and seemed like she was trying to ignore us yet casually was chatting with other tables for 10 mins , simple drinks that should be on the table within the first 10 mins took 30-50 mins to arrive . Should I mention that there were only 7 tables in the restaurant , place was more than half empty . So here is a tip if you are busy mom and finally find time to go for a date night with your significant other , pay for the babysitter , dress up and want a special evening - drive to Fort Mill and visit Napa...
Read moreI know this Napa location is rather new and probably still working out some kinks, but they need to work on a lot! We booked for the Valentine's Day special menu (that was offered for the 15th as well as 14th, so we went on the 15th). When we were sat, they gave us the regular menu but than realized we were there for the special Valentine's 3 course menu so gave us that one, but told us we could choose which menu. We chose from the Valentine's 3 course menu. It took our waiter over 1/2 hour to bring us just 'water'! We knew that was a bad beginning and it just got worse. Granted they were very busy, but still..water should be brought within 5 minutes in my book. We placed our orders and were concerned when 'SAME' waiter came back about 5 minutes later to ask if we'd been helped yet? Hello..you just took our order? My husband was served a butternut squash soup when he'd ordered the lobster bisque. After pulling our waiter aside, we found out they'd run out of the lobster bisque but instead of telling my husband that, they just served up whatever else they had?! He probably would've chosen something different. My 'Huge' salad (way too big for a starter salad) had rotten lettuce in it so I barely touched it and notified waiter to take it away. The main meal took forever (lilke an hour!) to be served to us, but both our dishes were very good. I had salmon, my husband had rack of lamb. Dessert was a passionfruit cheesecake and we both agreed it seemed like it had been sitting on the plate for over a day as the passionfruit sauce was 'stuck' to the plate hardened instead of being liquid, and cheesecake tasted a bit stale. My crust had a burnt flavor to it. The Manager? was apologetic for our experience and we received two glasses of port wine on the house, and they removed the soup and salad off our meal tab. So much for a special Valentine's night out...
Read moreI normally don't do these reviews, but I think I owe it if it means that they can improve.
So I came in for Sunday brunch. I did ask for the steak frites and the kitchen was able to oblige. For that I'm grateful. I asked for the steak to be medium to medium well.
And that's when I got this plate.
The plate was....disappointing to say the least. The steak was cooked practically well-done and the presentation was lacking. The flavor of the steak wasn't there at all and the fries were soggy. The only saving grace was the peppercorn sauce and even that could use some work since I found whole peppercorns in there.
Yet, I ate it quietly and didn't want to complain right there and then because I understand that there is going to be some stuff to work out at a new place. And, I was hungry, and I don't like to raise a complaint.
So, hopefully, someone can listen to some of my suggestions.
First, quality check. If someone asked for a medium to medium well, check to see that is what's going out the expo window. If you wouldn't serve it to yourself, then don't serve it. Also, seriously, what's with the way it was sliced? Probably a dull knife was used.
Second, make it a 8 oz sirloin instead of the picaña. The picaña shrinks and can overcook so easy. A sirloin is more forgiving.
Third, maybe serve it next to the fries to make it bigger or more presentable.
Last, make sure the peppercorn is properly cracked if you are making a sauce out of it. Nothing worse than missing out on flavor because the kernel was still whole.
Other than that, the French toast I got to go was amazing.
Thank you...
