I live in Hawai’i, and, unfortunately, there are no watercolor workshops offered here. I found Anya’s beautiful transparent flowers and contacted her about a possible video class. She did not offer online classes, but wanted to help me. Even with the six hour difference, Anya made the time to provide me with a superb one-on-one class via Skype.
I was so nervous, but Anya made me feel comfortable immediately, even taking the time to explain how she was going to set up the camera and proceed with the class.
Her technique is so amazing- - I had dozens of questions. She never talked over me or interrupted me in the middle of a question, and she answered everything in easily - understandable detail. It was as if she had nothing else in the world to do but teach the class and make sure I was understanding everything as we went along.
Anya ended the lesson by asking me to provide a photo of my work when I was ready so that we could discuss it, but she followed up with me the next day, anyway, just to see how I was progressing. As she put it, she does not consider the class completed until I have submitted a piece for her to review.
If you want to learn a really beautiful watercolor technique from a great instructor, Anya provides everything you...
Read moreThis is my first ever online the review for anything, and if there's anybody worth reviewing it is Anya! I wish I could give 10 stars!
I stumbled upon a flyer for her art class whilst grabbing coffee one day. It caught my attention, but then when I went back the next week for coffee, I saw the art class in process. It looked amazing! Anya was kind, patient, and clear with her instructions, the students were so focused and relaxed, treating themselves to a calming and mindful morning activity.
I put my name and email address down on the notepad that was left out for people who were interested, and Anya promptly followed up with an email and a link to her next class that was happening. I attended the class, fell in love with the creative process or mixing the coloring, finding the right shade, creating a transparent flower, and taking my beautiful work home with me.
I will continue to attend Anya's classes because they are such a treat to myself! Thank you for sharing your gifts...
Read moreFor me, watercolor is an extremely daunting media due to its unforgiving nature. I walked into Anya’s class with apprehension and full of nerves; however, Anya is an extremely patient and relaxed teacher. She welcomed us with a smile and had each desk prepared with the materials we needed to tackle the next hour or so of her class.
Throughout the class, her calm and competent manner turned something I was slightly dreading into an enjoyable day filled with coffee and art. She navigated us through her layering technique and was quick to react when someone needed aid or their art needed a little TLC to get back on track.
As the minutes flew by I slowly grew more comfortable and confident with water colors And really enjoyed my time creating One of her beautiful flowers. I will absolutely come back for another class and I hope this reviews...
