So I dined in this past weekend and got my usual Cherry Blossom Roll which is a rice roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, raw tuna, and apparently deep fried batter bits wrapped in soy paper and drizzled with sauce. Love this roll, I would recommend a sushi beginner to start with this. Unfortunately, the roll I got this time was lacking. At first I thought it was me and then upon inspection I realized I didn't see any tuna. So when the server came by I asked her what's suppose to be in the roll and she listed the above and I said ok and showed her that I don't see any tuna. She proceeds to tell me that the crunches is where the tuna is.... I asked if the tuna is cooked or are they deep fried together? She said no. And so finally I pointed out that raw tuna is bright red and I don't see any red. She then tells me that it's mixed in together. Yet I still don't see any red that would indicate tuna. This roll is almost $11.00 and I'm sure the cost is this high bc of the tuna content that it was suppose to have. I can't say she was lying bc there may be a miniscule amount of tuna "mixed in" with the crunchies but my point is that then the roll shouldn't be $11 for rice, a couple fried shrimps and a couple pieces of avocado and batter bits. This is false advertising and I do not appreciate being mislead as a consumer. I work hard so I can enjoy what I like and proudly pay for the value of those things. I was being cheated in that moment. I didn't want it to turn into an ordeal so I politely paid my bill and only my bill and left. I will not be returning and I hope anyone interested in this place should be cautious on not wasting too much money here. I also got a couple salmon nigiri which were sliced fairly thin to the point that I couldn't taste the flavor of the salmon. It could have been low quality salmon or just not a good cut. It was bland. The avocado fries I got from their specials was decent. Check the photos below and see for yourself what I'm talking about. I love sushi and have worked in an establishment that sold sushi for almost 10 yrs. I know when there is tuna and when...
Read moreI’ve been a customer for several years and was happy with the quality of food and service. For the past few months, the staff have not been as attentive. The past 3 times I’ve called to get carry out, the staff will not up the phone. They acknowledged it the first time, when another customer complained. This last time I went in, I asked if the number on the website was correct as I’d been calling and getting a message that the mailbox is full. The 3 staff standing at the counter (with just a couple of other patrons to tend to) confirmed the phone number is correct and they have been taking calls all day. I called them again and the phone did ring. This means they intentionally did not take my multiple calls. As a punishment for pointing out their laziness, I received the opposite of what I ordered. I won’t be back. 88 Bistro has better food and much better service. I feel there’s no need to switch things up, if I’ll get little satisfaction from...
Read moreWe stopped into Ginbu 401 for dinner and were so glad we did! While most of their business seems to be takeout (we were the only ones dining in), the service was absolutely wonderful—attentive, friendly, and fast.
The sushi was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I tried a few different rolls, and each one was better than the last. They have a massive selection of rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
We also ordered the tofu in garlic sauce with white rice, and it was delicious—super flavorful and perfectly cooked. I started with the house salad with ginger dressing, and that dressing was so good I would come back just for that.
They also have a solid wine list and even a full menu of Chinese dishes, so it’s a great spot if you’re craving variety. Highly recommend if you’re looking for fresh sushi and great service in a...
