The southern is usually one of the best places to listen to music and eat food, however this time was different. They were hosting a Emo event and it was busy. I stood in line and ordered my food, and was told it was a 25 minute wait which I didn’t mind. 40 minutes went by, and nothing. I went by and asked about the ETA, and was told that they had ran out of chicken and it would take longer. It seemed that they were not prepared for the amount of people that were going to attend the event and I relented and sat back down. I noticed that there was food on the counter in the kitchen, and the staff would walk by it, catering to the line of people ordering drinks. They had someone who wasn’t attending the counter, who was passing the tray of food, and would periodically go deliver food. After another 20 minutes I stood in line and when I got to the counter, I found out the food that was on the window was in fact mine. They gave me the food which had turned cold, and when If there was any way to get hot food, they told me to wait a minute and returned from the microwave and handed me food that was now semi cold, semi hot, and had no flavor at this point. They honestly need a new system in place to make sure people aren’t waiting and have to wait in line to get their food, because I was not the only one with this problem, and it’s a shame because their food is usually good....
Read moreFriendly helpful staff, good food, nice venue. It is handicapped accessible with ramps outside and a ramp inside by the ticket counter down to the main floor. Be aware, though, the sidewalks outside the venue are rough and sloped; you might need assistance. The cafe was accessible to my wheelchair, with the tables spaced well apart. Note, the food is made to order and may take a while to come out, in case you may need to eat quickly. I didn't check out the restroom. The music hall is on the same floor as the cafe, easily wheelchair accessible through a side door. I suggest arriving early if you want to get close to the stage, otherwise you'll be behind people. If you're ambulatory and can manage a couple stairs, inside the main door is a raised section with chairs and small tables, where you can rest and watch the stage. For sensory difficulties, the ambient noise was not a problem, I was at a black metal show and I've had worse problems with noise in some restaurants. I liked the cafe and the music hall and will...
Read moreNew York underground meets Charlottesville hometown vibe. This medium sized venue is excellent for catching everything from bluegrass to punk with up-and-coming travelling artists, before they return to play the Jefferson Theater a year or so later. Local shows are great here and the selection of beer has never disappointed.
The staff is small but very efficient, offering friendly and fast service. The food is relatively limited but they do have a decent variety of gourmet grilled cheeses and some various pub fare.
There are three bathrooms. The third is located in the music area which is sometimes overlooked by newcomers.
There's plenty of room out front for a smoke in between music sets and a coat area so you never get over heated or have to lug around your jacket.
10/10 - I love...
