Usually, I have great experiences in this shop...but this time was different.
We went on an early Saturday afternoon, and there was a woman and an older man working the register. While I was browsing the children's books, my 5 yo daughter was playing with the toys they have set out (for kids to play with), she was about 5 feet from me. The man walks between us and starts picking up the toys at her feet and putting them away, around her. It felt unnecessary, like it could have waited until we left the area, eventhough there were only two things on the ground. And I made sure she cleaned up everything else, like I normally would.
We finished up and walk towards the register, we're she started looking at the glitter pens, and he's just watching us like a hawk. I'm not sure what he's expecting us to do wrong, but it was a very unpleasant experience.
We got to the counter, while he was ringing us up, she started wandering and found little cards that go with charms and grabbed one card from each that she liked. He made this exasperated sigh when he realized it, " She's messing up the business cards." I smiled, put my full bag of purchases down, turned around, and had my daughter help me put them all back in the correct spots and explained to her that these go with the charms that people purchase, all while he glared at us.
Went back to pick up my bag and the handle ripped off the paper bag. He said nothing, while the woman asked if we wanted another.
I won't shop there again, while...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve given this place a couple chances and it just disappoints every time. First time I went I bought a couple books went to check out and a woman in front of me, who the clerk clearly knew was all chatty and even asked about a punch card of some sorts. My turn came and it was silent. Her and the other lady behind the counter just awkwardly staring at me, no conversation, no punch card offer, just took my money and said good bye. Second time, I was getting a facial down the block so decided, why not letās try this again. Iām an avid reader, reading 2-3 books a week so Iām always up to try little bookstores. Again, just awkward. No greeting. No conversation just awkward silence then done. Today I needed some new art supplies and I was in town. Normally Iāll drive to Olympia for the supplies. But gave this shop a shot again. Iām a realism colored pencil portrait artist and spend quite a bit on supplies. First, no greeting. Just awkward silence and stares. Then Iām done selecting my supplies and after questioned about why I chose certain products, it was again an awkward silence, the only thing you can hear is the other lady struggling to open her candy bar. Very disappointed, given it three chances and I always prefer to support local small businesses. But I dang near feel like I am an alien and not wanted walking in this store. And again, if there is a punch card, I wasnāt offered it again. Think three strikes youāre...
