The Ally Hair Bar — Local services in Chehalis

I got my hairs cut at The Ally Hair Bar today. Let me just preface by saying I get my hairs cut 1-2x a year and am a very low maintenance girl aka never style or hardly even blow dry because I'm literally the laziest. I'm also super skeptical and making any decisions about how to cut my hair gives me 10/10 anxiety and therefore is the worst. My last hair cut was from my husband's barber who did me a solid.

Things I loved about having Rachel cut my hair: She was very chill and very open to my lack of knowledge/ lazy hair life, but also gave me solid helpful tips on how to take care of my hair. She also taught me about literally everything she was putting on my hair, from the scalp scrub, to the shampoo and later the styling products. Usually I'm very skeptical as to any products and what they are trying to sell me. But she literally explained science behind them, as well as why they chose this line as their hair line. She never rushed and answered all my questions thoroughly.

My scalp has been SO ITCHY because of the dry weather. She graciously treated it with the most luxurious scalp scrub and it felt so so so much better. I bought it for my own use because my scalp felt SO GOOD after.

My hair is very fine, but also there is a lot of it. It's the most annoying combo. She also has fine hair and told me all the things she does with her hair and showed me how she was cutting it to help with the lack of volume we struggle with. She also PARTED MY HAIR WHERE IT NATURALLY PARTS. In my nearly 40 years of getting my hair cut, literally 99% of hair dressers part my hair down the middle. I have a massive cow lick. My hair doesn't part down the middle. And yet, even when I tell the hair dresser, always a stupid part down the middle. Thank you Rachel for parting my hair where it naturally parts.

Things I loved about the salon: The coffee The water The cozy hair washing chairs The wall paper. I studied this for quite some time. Very well lined up. The head massage after the hair washing. I grew up in Asia and this is one thing I miss so much about getting my hair cut. Only 3 chairs in the salon. Very cozy. Very comfortable. Very demure. Location-- downtown Chehalis is one of my favorite go-to places for spending money.

This sweet salon is now my happy place. I drive down from Olympia every 5 weeks to be pampered and get the best cuts I’ve ever had. From the moment I walk in to choruses of warm hellos to when I leave with the style I asked for, I feel like a queen. Ally checks to see how my cut grew out, then wants to know what I liked about it and what I’d like adjusted. And then she delivers. I trust her completely to give me exactly what I’ve requested. I trust her, too, to improvise or offer advice when I invite it. I’ve never known another stylist who communicates so clearly and often to ensure I get the results I want. She is a perfectionist who is superbly skilled at her craft. Love how she coaches and supports the other stylists, making sure they get the education she knows will advance their careers and build their clientele. I’ve made a number of new friends at Ally’s. Her welcoming heart, sense of humor and uncommonly generous spirit connect all her guests. We laugh and share and compliment each other like old friends.
