This place was pretty decent! I've been here before, I think a while, though, probably years. It was, eh, not the same. If you recognize me at all, you know my posts are usually pretty long.
I ordered the chow mein. I do appreciate that the waitress wanted to make SURE it was chow mein I wanted - I can see how people would get the names mixed up, and I suppose it's not something that many Americans order? I don't know for sure. I also ordered the crab puffs and egg flower soup. My lover ordered the seafood combo and the beef and broccoli and their own soup.
For starters, the chow mein was gorgeous. Aside from the pork needing salt, it was really good. I love the bean Sprouts so much. The sweet and sour pork was really good too, no issues there whatsoever.
The crab puffs were well, different. Im a texture eater. They were super yummy, but the wontons were strange. They had, like, a coating of something and weren't super crispy. Almost like they were underdone, but that couldn't be it. They were hot inside! So I'm unsure.
The soup now is why I wanted to go again. God, I love that this place makes their egg flower soup with the yolks. It has so much yummy stuff inside, and it's so tasty.
My lovers, beef, and broccoli were okay. It was a bit bland and watered down but decent. The seafood combo seemed really good, the veggies were cooked well, and the shrimp was nice. However, the fake crab meat was not. My lover liked it though so, I'll give it that. Though I wish that places that charged you over 20 bucks for seafood and include crab would use real crab? Maybe that's just me.
We had to leave in a rush. This dude and a woman he was with walks in and begins to talk LOUD to the waitress. Calling her lady and such. It was beyond annoying. Nothing against the establishment, but we were trying to talk while enjoying the short time we had to spend there; and this dude comes in. He seemed to be having a good time, like, anywhere else I'd have loved his energy, yknow? It's just not the place or time. The waitress was clearly uncomfortable and BUSY. She didn't wanna have to stand there and listen to you talk loudly at her man. Cmon.
So we left her a nice tip and made way.
Though the last issue, my biggest issue (my lover had nothing to report issue wise), was that as I was packing up the leftovers, the waitress came on over. It wasn't a super big deal, but I'm autistic and touching my food is a yikes. She picked up the bowl of rice (that I didn't want) and put it in my takeout bowl for me. It made me uncomfortable, and I feel like she probably saw that because she let me handle it from there. I'm sure that other people may possibly be very appreciative of this, and I can see it was harmless, but it ticked me off for no reason other than she didn't ask, I suppose.
Regardless, lovely woman and decent food. It's not my favorite place we've been, but not bad for a quick stop if it's the closest spot. Good service.
The atmosphere is decent, the decorations are cute but it could definenlty use more. The table was clean, we were allowed to sit wherever we wanted. I apologize for my sugar mess, though, 🙇🏻♂️ they were slippery little things. Cute all around but nothing extravagant. Warm and nice out of...
Read moreI have only been here 2 times. Both with my mom because she likes to eat Chinese. The atmosphere is modern and clean. But once we got there we grabbed a to go order menu to look at while she helped another person ahead of us. She told us to put them back if we were eating in. Then after she sat us she was pleasant however when I would ask questions we seemed to get passive aggressive answers like I should know what their Ingrediants are. Then once we got the food it was decent just huge portions. It will Last me 3 days 🤣 not necessarily a problem though.
Once my mother went to pay for the bill she didn't put a tip.. she just didn't want to do it on her card ..she was going to do it in cash. The waitress came back after my mom gave her the paper with a signature and card and said 'you didn't choose an option' pointing to the tip section. My mom put zero and gave it to her. The lady proceeded to say oh well "you have to put something" and my mom looking confused said "uhm yeah I can't put cash?" She said "oh okay ya ya that's fine". "You just have to put something" "it's not included in the price" my mom was going to give her a heavier tip but after that interaction she gave her 4$. Let me make something very clear to everyone... tips are NEVER A REQUIREMENT. They are a SUGGESTION based off of service rendered. If I go to this establishment again which I don't think I will..I don't want to be greeted with rude attitudes and told I "have to put a tip because it's not in the price". Do better. If a single mom comes to treat herself to eat and can only afford the meal and not much else for a tip then respect that. We are all struggling in America right now. NOBODY IS...
Read moreVery engaging hostess. My wife is disabled so I order take home a lot. We ordered the #2 Lunch combo, beef and broccoli, egg flowers soup, and the Ocean sky appetizers. Total was a little over $69. Ok considering we would be eating it for two days 😁. Big tatsty main courses, rice and packets of everything you needed as well as plenty of sweet and sour sauce. The bad: The appetizers plate failed. The BBQ pork was grey in the middle, dry, tough and chewyat least 3 to 4 days old. But probably more like a week old. The chicken pieces were fresh. The pork pieces were chewy and tough. And some of the shrimp were fresh. But most were outdated and rubbery. So I gave a 3 rating because most of the food and service was excellent. But I don't like paying for reheated or days old reservised food. I expect to get fresh food when ordering. The egg flowers soup was excellent. Probably the only thing I'll order from there again. After actually tasting the main courses and not relying on my disabled wife's opinion. I'm lowering my review to 1 star. For friendly and good egg flower soup. The main courses were also either reheated or old products used. The broccoli was limp and had a yellowwish brown color instead of the vibrant green of fresh cooked vegetables. The meat was tough to chew and wasn't fresh either. Same with the rice. It definitely was precooked once or twice. I'm wondering if the use the left overs to serve...
