I really thought we would love this place.
TL/DR
They hurt our dog and blamed us and the dog for it.
The long version...
Let me start by saying that this is the 6th dog I've owned in my life, and the first dog I've owned in Cheyenne. Our dog is a 6 month old Pup and has done well at the Pet-Co puppy grooming, but I always prefer supporting local businesses so I was very excited to find this location with such great reviews.
The store itself is very nice, and while I've heard great things about the workers, the girl that helped us seemed inexperienced with customers, and possibly with dogs as well. We had her do a nail trimming before we did a self-serve wash. She took the dog back without asking us a single question about him other than his name, not his age, not his breed, not the last time he'd had his nails cut, not if he'd ever been to a groomer, not one question. If that ever happens to you, get your dog back and leave.
When she got him into the back to trim his nails he seemed to be doing fine, until they cut one of his nails to short and cut his quick. To be clear, that happens (however it certainly happens less if you ask good questions before you set in to cutting). Especially on dogs with jet black nails. That's not what upset me. What upset me was that as soon as he started yelping she started yelling at him to stop. And not in any gentle soothing tones. She was clearly panicked, and it showed in how she yelled at him. But I waited and was patient and calm when she brought him back out.
Once she got him back out he was in a total panic, which she was entirely ignoring. When she got over to where me and my kids were standing she proceeded to tell us what happened in the back, she said she cut his quick (points for her honesty) but then immediately set in to tell us why that was the dog's fault for being too skiddish, and then why it was our fault for not playing with his paws enough to keep him from being skiddish.
This pup has had his nails trimmed 5 times now and this is the only groomer to have any problems doing this. Why? Because I'm a certified dog trainer and know exactly how to prepare a dog for grooming. Something we have done well with this dog. Pet Co asked us these questions, they loved on our little guy, and they got to know us well enough to know how to support us as groomers, rather than trying to blame us for any mistakes they could have made.
I was just so disappointed. I may keep trying to find a good local groomer, but honestly I'm leary to even try, knowing that Pet Co will take great care of our dog, and not knowing if any of these other reviews can actually be trusted.
I would not recommend this location for any grooming needs. Too bad, they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a hard time giving this place a 4 star. I have been bringing my pudle pointer here occasionally, for 2 years now. They have always been very kind and happy and do a wonderful job! I brought my new dog in today, some sort of Doodle. He was a stray and I got him from a shelter. Very timid when you don't know him, but breaks out of his shell soon enough. He's a great dog that very trainable. I originally took him to a spa, because I've never had a high maintenance dog before and had no idea what I was doing. But they were great and told I could wash himself sometimes and told all the right grooming tools I'd need. So this time I came here! To Tail waggers. I love this place. My dogs get a wash, a nail trim and a toy everytime. My pudle pointer even tore his toy up in the store and I made sure to clean it up myself, but they were wonderful about it! Then there's Brook. A very negative, passive aggressive person who seems to have a real problem with doodles. First she completely ignores me, going straight to the person who came in after me to get them on the list for washing FIRST. Then she continued to ignore me and I had to ask her if I could be on the list. She did... finally. Then when it came to the trimming of the nails, she makes a comment about how doodles shouldn't be a mixed breed, in a passive aggressive tone, I might add, then very outwardly, no she's not sly, made another employee do the nail trimming when it was her job to do it. He was busy, doing his job. But he did it for her. Brook has no business working in this industry and I hope she doesn't own dogs. I imagine she the person that yells at her dogs in her bad mood, that actually has nothing to do with the dog. I hope to never run into her again. She made what could've been a great day into something "bleh". Everyone else was great! The lady cleaning the tubs was so very nice, the gentleman that trimmed my dog's nails was amazing. And the lady at the cash register was friendly. I'll be going back, but Brook should know, I bite back if she wants to be rude...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in looking for a dog food they did not carry, instead of being told no they did not carry it I was SHAMED for looking for the food. While I understand they carry only what they see fit as the best dog food, they do not know the reasoning behind everyoneās purchasing choices. I was yelled at and given a nasty and rude lecture on how they did not carry this dog food because it did not meet their high quality of standards and then the ingredients were listed. I was told I could purchase that type of dog food at Walmart. When I called to speak to a manager I was told there wasnāt one there, and left a message and was never called back. The girl I spoke to was the one who was rude to begin with, I let her know she was rude and should work on her customer service skills. I recently stopped purchasing all my dog products online to start purchasing at this store to support a local business. I will find a new local business or go back to purchasing online instead of purchasing from this store. My friends and family will no longer be shopping here either, I understand wanting to sell the best products possible. I do buy those hence the reason I was going to shop there but I will not be shamed or made to feel like a...
