Facial was mediocre--as much as I appreciate serums and creams, after performing a pre and post consult/review the aesthetician should know that when you pile a bunch of product on a person's face it may produce build-up and/or flake, coagulate (which tends to happen on my skin i.e. African-American) when a bunch of sunscreen(?) is used and not fully massaged into the skin. The worst part, however is when you exit the dark room and have no clue (because no one at the front desk mentions it) and you have flakes/crust and white patches on your face!
Despite that experience, I'm willing to let that slide considering it lends to remembering to be vocal about product choices on my next visit. The main reason my visit ended in disappointment was due to the front desk service (aforementioned in other reviews). The salon is currently running a $20 facial promotion for the month of October and when mentioned, you would have thought I spoke another language. The representative proceeded to ask me to pull up the special-ALTHOUGH THE PROMOTIONS ARE RUNNING ON A FLAT SCREEN TV BEHIND THE FRONT DESK! and seemed irritated that it took a minute for me to pull it up on my phone (Thanks AT&T) all the while I'm telling her that the coupon is flashing on the TV behind her, she questions whether I printed it out or mentioned it when booking (which I did, but the person who answered the phone said since I wasn't sure which skinceuticals facial I would get, it wasn't necessary to log considering ALL facials utilizing that product were included in the promotion). I didn't appreciate having to fumble looking for a code that you know your spa is offering, then all of sudden 'remembering' the code once I provide it. In the end, I now remember why I hadn't booked there in over a year...unfortunate because I was considering joining...
Read moreI had my colored at the Asha salon in Schaumburg on a Thurs evening and unfortunately, it turned out quite bad. I won't mention the stylist by name as I don't believe in name shaming over social media. Plus, anyone can have an off day at work. But when I got home, my partner (who usually never notices my hair) said, "OMG what did you do to your hair? It looks terrible!" Sadly, he was right.
So I went online and made an appointment for the next day (Fri) at Asha in the Gold Coast to see if a stylist there could somehow fix it. I was starting a new job on Monday so time was of the essence. Luckily I got Izzy, who is insanely talented. I've had my hair done at Aveda salons all over the world (I travel a lot for work) and can honestly say Izzy is in the top 1% of all stylists. She's truly remarkable and performed a miracle on my hair.
When I went up to the counter to pay, I was greeted by Imani. She said she noticed in my records that I just had my hair colored less than 12 hours ago at the Schaumburg location and said since I was not happy with the result, she was not going to charge me. I was stunned as I honestly expected to pay since I was seeing a different stylist at another location. I cannot express how grateful I am to Imani and Izzy for the amazing customer experience. I was able to walk into my new job with confidence thanks to these two remarkable women. They have won a loyal customer and brand...
Read moreWonderful stylist! They always do an amazing job! My one complaint would be with the front seating. Upon my last visit a customer was getting her makeup done up front. She had her friends and all her belongings strung across the small seating area leaving no room for other guests. I politely stood while waiting for my appointment when her friend offered to move her belongings out of one of the chairs so I could sit. The woman receiving the service became irate muttering comments about me as I was sitting there, and all around making it beyond uncomfortable. I was shocked and irritated that the makeup artist providing her service did absolutely nothing to diffuse the situation. She did not offer to move her things or step in. It was clear she was an “important” client but as someone who has been going here for 7 plus years I was mortified to be treated in such a way when I was simply waiting for my appointment. The front desk staff needs to be more attentive to waiting guests and manage the experience more thoughtfully. If a high maintenance guest is there for a “photo shoot” or with a posse, I would suggest arranging another area for them to wait so clients don’t have to be subjected to such classless behavior. Love the stylists and the overall experience, very disappointed that this has left such a poor taste...
