The bank that will shut off your card as the solution to resolving a disputed (not fraudulent) charge.
I wasn’t happy when BoW was bought out by BMO, their usefulness as an institution dropped off almost instantly. The BoW app was functional and worked well, the BMO app makes it tough to even setup a bill pay, and other than checking your balance is non-functional or so badly cabbaged together the most rudimentary task is difficult.
But, because I had 40 years worth of history, 2 accounts, 1 HELOC and one credit card, all my bill pay setup and auto deposits decided to tough it out and accept the 3rd worldliness service.
Well, the capper came today, I had a charge I wanted to dispute. Now back in the old days I’d just fill out a form online, but no-no now we go thru the phone tree. Finally, the CSR gets all my information that I was required to put in when I called again and away we go. First, I was informed nothing can be done about the charge because it’s pending. No, really you’d think they could lock the charge so it wouldn’t process like other banks, but no, no we have to have the money taken out of my account first. Then maybe BMO will do something about a dispute. Finally the CSR offered me a solution for the future, she’d just shutoff my card. YES, you read that right, this woman offered to cut off my card to avoid...
Read moreI know that reviews often tend to skew negative because people with bad experiences are more likely to leave them, but I wanted to take a moment to share a different perspective. This branch truly deserves more credit than its rating might suggest.
From the moment I walked in, I noticed how welcoming and comfortable the space felt. Unlike some branches that can feel intimidating or overly formal, this one has a casual, approachable atmosphere—right down to the low teller desks that make interactions feel more personal and friendly.
Beyond that, every single person I encountered was kind and helpful. The security guard and receptionist set the tone with their warm greetings, and it was refreshing to see that everyone, from the tellers to the staff walking around, took the time to say hello and acknowledge customers. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference.
The actual transactions I came in for took a little longer than expected, but I honestly didn’t mind because the staff was patient, thorough, and genuinely helpful. They made sure everything was handled correctly rather than rushing through.
All in all, this was a great experience, and I really appreciate the team here. If you’re hesitating because of the overall rating, I’d encourage you to give this branch a chance—you might be...
Read moreThis is a HORRIBLE Bank.....I have a boat loan with this financial institution and I have to call them EVERY month to re-apply the overpayment to reducing my principal balance (instead of the automatic movement of my payment due date). If you are reading this review, can you imagine paying more than the loan amount that is currently due and expecting that difference not to reduce the original loan amount? BMO believes that people pay more to move their due date further into the future. BMO has this policy in place so that principal balances are reduced more slowly over time thereby enriching themselves with longer interest payments. Every time I call, it takes me over 30 minutes to speak to an representative who is based in the US. I can assure you that the moment I have paid this loan off, I will never ever use BMO again. Their policies are terrible, their customer service is even worse and they could care less about making sure their customers feel confident about doing business with them in the future. I feel so sorry for people who have no idea what a terrible bank BMO is. I assured the last customer service representative that I spoke with, that I would no longer be silent about their intentionally...
