I was in the area of this PF and am a black card member so decided to go . I called this location prior to going to inquire about parking and was told that parking was free in the parking garage and bring in ticket to get validated. Parked, came in, got ticket validated, worked out and when leaving out of parking garage told to pay $21 so I thought maybe the parking validation didn’t work. So I parked again and went back in to ask the girl that validated the parking ticket. She told me that validation is only for 30-60 minuets which would have been nice to know when I called or even when I came in beforehand. She then said “I don’t know what to tell you, sorry” What kind of customer service is this? It’s the kind that cares more about being on their phone then helping the customer as she seemed as I was interrupting her and whatever she was doing on her phone. Now by the time I walk back to my vehicle to exit garage, parking is now $27 so thank you to this girl that clearly doesn’t like her job or doing it at all! Even coming in when I got the ticket validated she seemed as if I was bothering her by getting the parking ticket validated. I guess it would have been so hard to tell a customer about how the parking actually works instead of telling me after the fact or even when I called, instead you tell me it’s free, when it’s really not FREE. If you don’t like where you work, QUIT! $27 for an 90 min workout! Called corporate and they don’t know what to tell me because it’s independently owned? Really? Who cares it’s still a Plant Fitness! I’m already considering canceling my membership due to this, I live by at least 10 other gyms. I will also have my family cancel theirs as well so that will be 3 memberships. PF customer service is obviously not there to help the customer! For other customers considering this location FYI parking is NOT FREE and the gym is not very big, or clean, or a good selection of equipment. This location and employee get a 0 STAR!!!...
Read moreI've been a member for about year now. If you're looking for a basic gym at a low price I think PF is a pretty good deal ($10 a month with no contract). Probably not the place for people who want to do really heavy lifting, but if you want some cardio and have access to freeweights it's not bad.
I'll should mention that I've seen negative press at other PF locations across the country about the whole "lunk alarm" thing. I can say that I've never seen this become an issue at the Streeterville location. People work out as you would expect at a normal gyms (some grunting when lifting heavy weights) but people are very respectful at this location and the management has never interrupted people working out. I've never seen the management enforce any kind of odd dress codes (i.e. telling people no tank-tops etc).
Generally it doesn't seem to crowded and I never really have to wait to use equipment.
Here's what the gym offers for the $10 membership: Plenty of cardio machines (ellipiticals, steppers, treadmills bikes) Basic Freeweights (dumbbells up to 65lbs) Cable machines and various weight machines A 30-min workout circuit
Here's some things that the gym doesn't have that some people might see as cons: No squat rack or free barbell freeweights (there are 2 smith machines, but these are not really ideal for squats or deadlift) No swimming facility (this is a lot to ask for $10 a month) This is the one that I dislike the most: No towels provided in the locker room, so you'll need to bring your own towel. Also showers are a bit awkward in that they aren't well heated and there doesn't seem to be anywhere to hang towels outside the shower. If they could fix these points I would give 5 stars. Was originally open 24/7 but changed so that it closes earlier on Friday and Weekends (still open...
Read moreThe facility is clean. I travel for work and go to 100's. I walked here with a cover-up on. Started lifting and took my cover up off, and laid it with my water bottle. Employee told me "policy" was I couldn't have my shirt on the floor, or lay anything on the equipment. NEVER at any other place, can you not take off your cover-up or place your towel on the equipment you use. Then, said employee, walks over and starts cleaning equipment, takes off his jacket, and lays it on the ledge. I asked him how he could place his jacket on the ledge, but my shirt couldn't be on the floor with my water bottle next to me. Place might be clean, but your "policy" isn't Planet Fitness policy.
Asked for the GM's number, and they "didn't know it." Absolute worst customer friendly staff. PF is starting to get a really bad name for places just like this. You say "Judgment Free Zone" while you have a judgment of "lunks" posted on your walls.
Your posted policy says "No bags on the gym floor," which I didn't have. It's in the locker room. You don't want people to take off an over shirt or cover up you better have it posted and agree with the corporate guidelines.
Absolute joke!
Update: At 8 AM, I was told the GM would be here no later than 9. 9:30, and no GM. PF, maybe you should vet your franchise owners/management a little better 😉
Also including pictures of articles on the equipment... in plain view of employees, and they...
