The Goldsmith Ltd. — Local services in Chicago

If you're in need of anything even as minor as a link adjustment (removal) on a watch, you'd be better off shipping this to a stranger in hopes they plan to help you. Dropped off the watch, almost 2 weeks ago. Received daily calls saying they "can't get in touch with the watch maker". I don't need a watch made, I needed a link removed so it would fit.

When I walked over to come pick it up so I could take it elsewhere, the representative told me 1) it wasn't in their possession, 2) that the watch maker had it in his possession, and 3) that they haven't been able to reach him for days........then claimed "it's not lost, don't worry" and when they found out I had walked there, I was told "well, I mean you live close right? so just come back when it's ready." Mind blown.

I had purchased the watch for an event (wedding) and had dropped it off with plenty of time. Never got it back and didnt have it for the event.

Still don't have the watch and it's getting to the point where I'm looking at filing some form of report to escalate this. Insane. Do not go here, I literally thought it was a reality show and that people with cameras were going to jump out and say it's one giant prank.

I needed to have a few rings resized due to a broken finger and was referred to Goldsmith LTD form a friend. One of the rings to resize was my engagement ring however in addition to not fitting, there were parts of it that just didn't fit my style, so I just stopped wearing it. I had even thought about turning it into a totally different style of ring, that was more me. Ultimately I figured I should at least get it resized, but then I spoke with Sherry and had a great conversation where she informed me that we could look at restyling the area that I wanted changed on the ring. She was so great about helping me though the process, as this was my first time doing anything custom. The final product is absolutely gorgeous. Sherry is so talented, the ring design is just perfect, it keeps the parts of the ring that I do actually love, and the addition is integrated into the ring so well that it looks like it was made this way from the beginning. Let me begin this review by saying my relationship with Sherry and her associates at The Goldsmith began when I walked into the store on a business trip to Chicago. Since then, maybe 15 years ago, I have worked with Sherry on numerous jewelry design projects, and I've also made it my business to go to the shop whenever I'm in Chicago to buy the occasional out-of-the-case piece that I simply can't live without! Working with an out-of-state customer to design must be challenging for her at times--the drawings, the back and forth faxes/emails, the tweaking and ultimately the producing. But all this she handles with determination and unfailing attention to quality and attention to whether I'll be happy with the finished product.
