Our son moved to Chicago 4 years ago for work and during the first 2 years we stayed at multiple hotels and then about 2 years ago he moved to Streeterville so we started looking for a hotel near his apartment and that's when we found the Hilton Chicago Mag Mile and we haven't stayed anywhere else since. The rooms are extremely large, especially for a large city hotel and the views are beyond amazing. The AC works wonderfully. We always have a super cold room even when we are on one of the top floors. The bathroom is huge and both the bathroom and the bedroom have plenty of storage space. The rooms offer 2 large TVs, one in the living room and the 2nd in the bedroom, which is a complete separate room with doors. There are also two separate doors to the bathroom, one from the living room and one from the bedroom. Each room offers a microwave and a mini fridge as well as a Nespresso coffee maker. Just recently there has been a small restaurant open on the first floor and the food was wonderful. There are a ton of shops and restaurants all around and a small food mart directly across from the hotel entrance. It's on the lower level of the condos right across the street. 30 second walk from the hotel lobby. I believe it's called East Delaware food Mart and they are open late, until 12am and offer everything from food, drinks, alcohol, lottery, medications, souvenirs, phone chargers, pet food...pretty much everything you could think of and/or need and their prices aren't that bad considering the location and neither only food mart right next to the hotel. The area is super quiet even though it's only 1 block from Michigan Avenue. We also never hear people inside the hotel either. We were there this past weekend and the hotel was totally sold out and we still didn't hear anyone from our room. The elevators are fast and there are plenty of them. The staff have always been extremely kind and welcoming and they do a great job keeping such a busy hotel clean. I actually witnessed the staff on the floor cleaning the baseboards by hand in the hallways of the 24th floor where we were staying. We always use valet parking and have never had any issues. It is not the cheapest, but it's pretty average for what we've paid at other hotels throughout the city. The beds are comfy with the exception of the sofa beds. You can feel the springs poking through, but the bed(a) in the bedroom are extremely comfortable. I do wish they would spend a little money to upgrade the sleeper sofas. That would help tremendously with comfort during our stays. That is the only complaint I have about this entire hotel though. The John Hancock building is right next door to the hotel and there is a Starbucks and The Cheesecake Factory right in front of the John Hancock Building, so about a 2 min walk from the hotel lobby. The lake is about a block or two in front of the hotel. I often walk around in the morning after I get my coffee and always feel safe in this area, even at night. For the size of the rooms and the wonderful location I don't think you'll find a better hotel in the area at...
Read moreI love Hilton brands. However, sometimes issues may arise during your stay. Unfortunately, the employees during check-in were not very welcoming. I can only assume this was due to being Christmas Eve and not happy about having to work.
I was not given the copy sheet with the QR code attached to use at the parking garage. The bed linens on one bed smelled of mildew. I believe they failed to let the sheets/linen dry completely, and because they were perhaps still damp prior to placing them on bedding created the smell.
Upon checkout my benefits were not credited. The young lady advised this was due to 2x points. I advised her that this was incorrect, and that my rate selected is for 2x points which has nothing to due with my benefits. She had to correct this manually.
I then asked her was it something I needed to ensure that I pay the Hilton rate at the garage because when I entered, the pricing information differs from the website for Hilton. She said she will print the receipt and I can show that to them if they price is different. The receipt will verify my stay.
When trying to retrieve my vehicle, they price reflected $88. I had to call the number listed on the pay machine. Spoke with a nice gentleman who wanted to direct me back to the hotel to retrieve a QR code. I advised him that I had taken an Uber and this was not explained to me. I also informed him of the receipt but that would not do him any good because no one is physically at the stations.
Once I was out of the parking garage, I went back to the hotel to express my concerns. I spoke with Michael, who stated that none of the employees were new and they make sure they give the information on parking.
I explained to him, and I asked questions as to where the garage was located and the address. That information was not given to me without me asking during check-in. Michael insisted that the employees know they were to hand that out, and he wasn't sure why I would not get a code.
I asked Michael to show me what I should have received. He presented a piece of paper that had been xeroxed that is given out. I informed him that perhaps they ran out of copies when I checked in because I never received that paper.
Michael was unprofessional, dis-courteous, and tried to make it seem that I was not truthful with getting this sheet of paper.
I would not recommend going during the holidays as you just never know the level of service you'll receive. Make sure that they give you the xerox paper with the QR code if you use the parking garage at 875 N. Michigan (John...
Read moreWe have stayed here twice, and both times, we chose this hotel because of its proximity to the American Girl Place and because of the American Girl package. We went for the first time in 2021 during Covid restrictions, so it was of course very clean then, although certain amenities, such as the pool, were not open, and Chicago itself was a ghost town! We went back again this year because of our great first experience, and we will certainly stay again.
We first chose this hotel because it is very close to the American Girl Place, it has a pool, and the prices are reasonable, while still being a nice hotel in a great location.
The people are all very helpful and friendly. The young man at the front desk, Ryan, was especially helpful. He was so professional, patient, and helpful. We stayed two nights, and he both checked us in and checked us out, and helped with any questions we had. The hotel itself felt very welcoming because of him. He always remembered us and asked about our Chicago adventures, etc.
Our suite was very clean. There are some things that might need updating, but it was very clean and very comfortable. Shower was hot, views of the city were amazing, bed was very comfortable.
We also enjoyed the pool. The views from the pool on the 30th floor at night were very neat, and the room as well as the water were very comfortable temperatures.
We had the American Girl package, which includes a doll bed, book, cookies and milk, and tickets to 360 Chicago, which is right next door and gives you views of the city from the 94th floor. That was something I wouldn't have thought to otherwise do, but it was a very cool experience.
We didn't check out the restaurant because sushi is not our thing, but there are plenty of places within short walking distance, and plenty of places that deliver, so dining was never an issue for us. The small market in the lobby had drinks, coffee, pastries, snacks, etc, for those who need it. Although, same with the dining, the hotel is in such a prime location, that you can easily walk anywhere. We stayed there Feb 5-7, and even the winter walk was not a problem.
Parking is expensive, but not by Chicago standards. You'll pay as much or more at any other hotel. We spent the extra money for the valet parking for the convenience, and I would also do that again. The valet drivers were very quick and professional.
I would recommend this hotel, and we would...
