Originally I was extremely skeptical of the new bouldering gym coming to Chico. I consider myself an avid climber and I followed the development of this place from the very beginning. Trying to start a climbing gym in a place that has a relatively low climbing community is an extremely daunting task. However the owners of the Terrain Park are extremely dedicated and genuine people. Instead of just establishing a simple bouldering gym, they instead have started incorporating the community activities into their gym. They hold ping pong tournaments and hold climbing classes. It seems like there is always something different going on each week.

This is a great activity for kids and I encourage families to come, however, when children are sprinting under you/standing directly under you when you’re climbing a route it makes for potentially serious injuries. I’m a 200lb person and I fall off the wall if I can’t do certain moves (almost every climber does), and I REALLY don’t want to fall on a kid. Some kids are great, but most just don’t know any better.
