Learned about Rookwood through the Cincinnati Art Museum. Loved learning about the major female empowerment of the company’s history. The showroom is located inside of a huge industrial building and showcases the work of the female artists they employ. However, much of the work was more factory production-looking in modern day than the CAM seemed to imply. The showroom itself had everything from tiles to large decorative pieces to mugs, plates, and cups. Although the mugs are priced as artisan pieces, many of the artists they employ and that are highlighted are specialized in one part of the production process, such a glazing, rather than seeing a piece from start to finish. Although I love the history, as a ceramicist myself, i was a bit disappointed in the last of creative freedom that appears to be missing from it’s current state based on what i saw at the showroom.
There is also very little parking in that part of town so be prepared to download the app and pay for parking at rookwood. The lot closest to rookwood are apparently very...
Read moreIn the past month I have received e-mails from Rookwood Pottery regarding the sale of limited edition hand thrown eggs and bunnies. The e-mails noted that the items would be on sale starting at 11:00 am on two separate Saturdays. On each occasion I logged into Rookwood's website at 10:55 am in preparation for the sale only to discover the egg and bunny my wife wanted were already sold prior to the 11:00 am start time. Apparently there is some super secret process through which select individuals can purchase items before the 11:00 am start time that Rookwood lists in their communications. Obviously Rookwood does not treat all customers the same. Talk about unethical and dishonest. Rookwood needs to place a disclaimer on their e-mails for such sales that the sale will start at 11:00 am unless you are a super sperical customer and then you can purchase the items before...
Read moreExtremely disappointed in the shopping experience. I’m in the city and go to the store to buy in person but it’s EXCLUSIVELY ONLINE ONLY. That’s fine, a little backwards but fine. Disney goes the other way and only has exclusive stuff at their parks.
The worse part is below.
I had two items IN MY CART and when I went to checkout they were sold out from under me.
Once they’re in the cart they shouldn’t be able to be taken out of your cart and put into someone else’s so they run out and buy. That wouldn’t happen to me in real life.
Here's an idea...PUT A COUNTDOWN TIMER in the checkout saying "We are going to yank stuff out of your cart if you don't buy when this timer ends!" Instead you just have the wild west.
Never shopping online with Rookwood with this type of experience....
