If you're looking for a planet fitness, this isn't it. It's a no nonsense gym, with similar machines, more free weights, and none of those stupid rules that planet has. If you're worried about "gymtimidation" or people judging you or whatever, get over yourself. No one is paying attention to your workout, they're way too focused on their own to have time for that.
Staff are great, friendly, and knowledgeable. There are multiple areas, for cardio, for Olympic lifts, machines, ab area. People are generally friendly and polite. Supplement store attached has great prices from what I've seen as well. I have yet to look into trainings offered, but it looks like they may have some based on the upper floor.
Showers aren't great, but I shower at home anyway. Bathrooms are fine, pretty clean from what I've seen. Only one water fountain, but the water was nice and cold.
The one planet-like thing I wish it had are paper towel dispensers and cleaning sprays. I like being able to wipe down my area after (and sometimes before) use, just makes me feel cleaner in general. Hopefully owners see this and consider implementing it, I don't believe it...
Read moreIf you are looking for a no frills locally owned strength, rehab and body building gym this is the place. Most of the staff possess a level of knowledge in the field that surpasses other local establishments. If you are looking for a heavy cardio based gym you will not find that here. If you are looking for a community of lifters with a vast knowledge base in different types of lifting you will love it. That being said it is a very small space comparatively. If you prefer going to a place where you don't have to be in close quarters with others, This gym is not the fit for you. The onsite supplement store is also unbelievably convenient and suprisingly competitive. If your expectations are that this gym will be like a fitness center you will be very disappointed. If you are focused on powerlifting, strength and body building you will find this is the...
Read moreI love this gym. If you’re looking for a place to train strength, this is by far the best place I’ve seen in the capital district. They also have an excellent supply of supplements and great prices (as cheap as planet fitness if you buy 1 year). That being said, this is more of a garage style gym, with a ton of strength equipment and weights but not a ton of cardio (elliptical, treadmills). Everyone here is serious about their training, so there are a lot of meatheads. Very nice, polite meatheads, who are very knowledgeable and have always been enthusiastic and helpful if I had any questions, but still meatheads. It can be intimidating to be around people who are deadlifting 600 lbs; but if you want to be one of them, this is the...
