LB Lightning Cyclery — Local services in City of Auburn

Without any previous reviews available I was willing to check out LB Lightning Cyclery, but certainly wasn't sure what to expect. After calling to confirm the shop would really be open on a chilly Saturday in February I decided to stop in and I'm glad I did, from the moment I arrived I was well taken care of. I arrived a little after 4pm and the shop closes at 5pm, the owner took his time and answered all of my questions, even the ones of someone who hasn't been a bicyclist or has a quality bike. He was very accommodating, allowing me to take some bikes off premises to get some test drives, he didn't hard sell and explained what was available and what features and options would be beneficials and what likely wouldn't for my specific needs and concerns. He didn't try to steer me to more expensive options, instead tailoring his recommendations to what would best suit me. In addition they have a good selection of bikes and accessories at fair prices and gave a discount of 10% on my entire purchase when I chose a bike and accessories, oh, and he stayed almost an hour after close to take care of me and address my questions and concerns. They also offer complimentary follow-up service to make sure I'm getting the most of of my bike after I initially break it in, they will also handle any warranty work in house if necessary. TLDR; great customer service in a tight space.

I had been researching e-bikes for my son and was completely overwhelmed with all of the options. I called around to local shops to see if I could get some information. Jay was so helpful and answered all of my questions over the phone and suggested we come try one out in person. We stopped in twice and on each occasion we were treated with kindness and patience (we had a lot of questions!). We didn’t go in with the intention of buying the first visit but we felt very comfortable that we were in the right place, with the right people. We knew we were going to be taken care of from start to finish- and beyond.

It has been a rainy couple of weeks since we brought home the bike, but my son has already ridden over 100 miles. I couldn’t be happier- We all know how kids are spending to much time inside in front of a screen.

Fresh air, independence and confidence were just a few additional perks that came with the bike.

The only thing I have to add to this review is the shop is very tightly packed, with only a little bit of room to spare. However, I wouldn’t let that put you off as there were mentions of a larger space...

This is one of the few completely family run small businesses left. It seems to me that this is a labor of love for this family. Jay and Julie are very patient, kind, knowledgeable and honest. They’re great about communicating with kids and adults. We’ve purchased a bike from them and will only purchase with them going forward. Each time any of our bikes need maintenance, we go to them. They are very straightforward and knowledgeable in telling you what you need and don’t need. They spend time answering your questions without any upselling. I can’t say that this happens every time but if Jay is available to take a look and it’s a quick fix, he can do it right then because he wants you to get back at it but he spends sincere time with each and every customer so I can’t say that this is typical.
