I've never written a review like this before but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It's sad because I love second hand shopping and supporting local. However the staff including the owner are so disrespectful. When I went the girls behind the counter had a friend come in and visit and they allowed her dog to run around the store. A guy came in to sell clothes and they all were picking on him and how "his stuff is always gross". Thankfully he stepped outside so I don't think he heard them. If "these people" stopped bringing in their clothes, these kids would lose their jobs. As a former Platos employee this behavior would never be accepted. Once you meet the owner you'll understand why it's allowed, because I've heard her saying the same things. When I was ready to check out the girls stared at me while playing on their phones. I've heard the one in Horseheads is better and I'm willing to drive the distance to find out. Sad to see this place go so far downhill. Edit- to now include my response to the very sad owner of this business :) I can’t believe you failed to think that maybe I didn’t write the review on the exact day I went which is funny. You were there, you’re the loud mouthed one always yapping away on your phone. I saw “your girls” on their phones and heard how they spoke about your customers. If your business is dog friendly (which is funny because it’s clothing), you should include that on a sign outside of the business. Never before have I seen such unprofessional behavior from a business owner. Maybe that’s why you’ll stay in teen used clothing and not doing anything else in life. Hoping your own words help people choose going to Horseheads or Vestal. Such pathetic and...
Read morei absolutely love this plato’s closet location! every time i come in, the customer service is seriously next level. the staff is always so friendly, helpful, and genuinely excited to assist you in finding what you’re looking for. they go above and beyond to make sure you have the best shopping experience possible—whether it’s helping me track down a specific size, suggesting pieces that match my style, or just greeting me with a smile when i walk through the door.
their selection is amazing too! everything is super trendy and on point with current styles, so it feels like shopping at a high end boutique but without breaking the bank. the store is always well organized and clean, which makes browsing so easy and fun. i love that they carry so many name brands and unique pieces (i’ve even found concert merch!)
i absolutely love how they post on their instagram story everyday too, it definitely gives the feeling of being informed on what is in the store everyday! i have also been in a few times at a later time in the day, and they’re always able to accommodate me.
honestly, this store has become my go-to spot for affordable fashion because they really care about their customers and the experience they provide. 10/10 recommend this plato’s closet to anyone who wants great deals, and the best customer...
Read morePrices are high here for what you get. Yes, they prioritize trendy clothing but that means they are selling a lot of low-quality fast fashion brands (a lot of which is not in particularly good condition) for nearly as much money as they likely cost when new. It takes more digging, but you can easily find similarly fashionable clothing at the nearby thrift stores for markedly less. Clothing here is easily 2-3x more expensive. The store also has a cloying smell like cheap candles that gave me a headache. Definitely worth checking here for stuff but it is a little galling to spend $12 on a shirt after spending $3 on a totally equivalent shirt down the street.
Edit: why is there a section labeled "kimono" that contains exclusively cardigans? We got a good laugh
Edit again: I never knew that kimono, a culturally specific clothing item, are actually cardigans. Today I learned! Cultural appropriation at play? 🤔 Maybe the staff are racist against Asians, as per the other review 😂
And today I also learned that running a retail store is a "public service."
For anyone reading this, I promise the staff were nicer in the store than they are online.
Last edit: Have reduced my star review based on rude...
