I honestly don't know what drugs most of you are smoking... or perhaps I visited a different store than you guys??? But the Aldis I went to was a tad bit different than what your 5-star reviews are raving about.
The selection sucks. The produce is horrible and on the turn half the time. The quality of all the food products that I've ever bought from that store is cheap garbage (especially the steak, wow is it disgusting). Cheap, low-budget garbage, hence the cheaper prices.
You have to pay for your own shopping cart - annoying. You have to bring your own shopping bags - even more annoying. The place is the size of a sardine can and feels claustrophobic, especially when there's more than like 30 people in there; it gets downright suffocating at times to be honest.
There is one employee there (older guy with glasses) who I've always found to just be a rude douchebag. However, I did find the other employees I've interacted with to be professional and courteous (it's the only reason I gave this store a 2-star review instead of 1).
This store sucks, bottom line. I stopped going to it a long time ago and have no plans to ever return.
DISCLAIMER: This review is MY opinion and based off the few years I did go there twice a month for groceries. You may have a different outlook on this store and that's fine. I didn't write this review to have anyone agree or disagree with me. Your best bet instead of reading these reviews is to just go there and experience it for yourself and than decide if it's a store you'd want to return to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was racially profiled in here today by Francine. I came in with my 8 year old for a few items. Normally I order through Instacart so I wasnāt familiar with where everything was. I saw Francine helping a customer and waited to ask for directions to a specific juice I typically order off Instacart. As sheās helping the guy and sees us waiting, she turns her back to me and proceeds to try and walk off as soon as sheās done with him as if Iām invisible. I yelled āexcuse meā and she turned around and helped. I got to the back of the store where the juice is and guess whoās there? Francine. Still didnāt think anything of it. I walk back up to the front now and Iām standing at self checkout and she stands there watching me the entire time. I didnāt ask for help and she begins punching in the produce for me as if Iām a thief. Still, I donāt say anything. I get to the payment screen and didnāt realize you canāt split payment at self checkout and use cash so I asked her to print my receipt so I can go to a regular register. She smirks ādid you scan the eggsā. Yes, itās in my cart. āDid you scan the second breadā as she once again checked my screen. It was scanned. I am insulted and embarrassed, especially having my son witness this. I did report it to a manager immediately but donāt expect much to be done and honestly in this town, they prob still wonāt do anything. But Iām reaching out to corporate and I will not be back at Aldiās , not even...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIncredible value for your money. At Aldis you can practically walk away with twice as many groceries for the money as other supermarkets. The vast majority of their products are generically made; specifically for the Aldi brand.. Having tried most of them by now I can say that about 90% of them are equal to name brand quality, with only a small amount of items being not as good.
The store has Fresh produce mostly mainstream, some Organic options. However, the price of milk, eggs, cheese, meats, Poultry, and cereals is where this place really shines with 73/27 ground beef, great for a greasy burger or to use in all meals that require it generally range only 2.00-2.25 per lb, compared to 4.29 -4.89 most other places. Eggs, 59cents, cheese 1.99 for 12 ounces of shredded cheddar, 1.99 for 8 ounces of chunk cheeses, cereals 1.50 or so a box equivalent size to the 4.00 boxes everywhere else.
All things aside if you are in any way money challenged, Elderly on a fixed income, struggling with unemployment looking to stretch your food allotment or just looking to use some savings, Aldis is where you will achieve it... The tradeoffs: Be prepared to pay 25cents to use a shopping cart, refundable at the end of your visit of course and be prepared to bring your own reusable bags or pay 10cents each for them at the store.....
