I usually don’t leave bad reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. I’ve ordered from No.1 Chinese Restaurant many times in the past when visiting their town, but my recent experience was beyond disappointing.
On a Thursday, I received undercooked BBQ pork chops and an egg drop wonton soup that was gluey. While the rest of the food was fine, I called the restaurant to address the issue. I spoke to the manager and customer service, explaining the situation and asking for a refund or credit. At first, they offered to remake the food, but I declined because I had already lost my appetite. Then, they told me I’d need to physically bring the food to the restaurant to prove the issue for a credit—even though the order was delivered, and I’d already paid for delivery and tipped the driver. After some back-and-forth, the manager reluctantly agreed to credit $8.80 for the pork chops but refused to credit me for the soup.
I thought the issue was resolved until today. When I called to place a delivery order, I first asked if my $8.80 credit was in the system. The employee didn’t confirm it but instead tried to rush me into ordering. I asked a few questions about the tofu options because I wanted to confirm something I saw in a picture on their Google reviews, and while I know their menu well, I just wanted clarification. I could tell the employee was annoyed. Then, they hung up on me—twice! When I called back, another employee put me on hold for several minutes before finally answering my question.
When it came time to place my order, they suddenly claimed there was a $40 minimum for delivery. This shocked me because I’ve ordered from them many times before, and the minimum has always been $15. Even with the credit applied, they insisted that I’d have to add more to meet this $40 delivery minimum. When I questioned this policy, the employee confirmed it was “four-zero,” $40, which made no sense. I’ve never had this issue before, so I canceled my order.
I’m posting this review now because of today’s incident, even though I thought everything had been resolved earlier. This restaurant needs to seriously improve its customer service. Their employees are unhelpful, and the manager could definitely use more training in handling customer complaints. I’m extremely disappointed and won’t be ordering...
Read moreAfter years of dining at & ordering from Hong Kong Jade Buffet the fire created a void in our dining routine. We ordered lunch one afternoon from No 1 Chinese and have been loyal customers since. No 1 Chinese isn't just their name, it's our rating of the items we ordered the 1st time & each time since. Their lunch specials are priced fair & the quality & quantity of the items on the lunch menu are exceptional. My wife always orders their Sweet & Sour Chicken and the dipping sauce is made fresh from scratch daily. It always tastes the same which is welcoming & of comfort as no one likes to be hungry for something only to get it & have it taste different each time. We usually ask for their Chicken Fried Rice to be included rather than the plain white and seldom is there a up-charge for the generous bed of CFR. It has generous amts of white meat chicken and diced onions throughout. I also have asked for their Vegetable Fried Rice & have chicken added, or the CFR with veggies added. The other items we usually order are their Sesame Chicken with extra brown sauce and they seldom add a additional fee. The only thing that I have been disappointed in is No 1 Chinese used to provide 2-Spring Rolls when adding that item to the lunch order, but for the past couple of years the lunch orders only get 1-Spring Roll, which is how their Egg Rolls have always come when added to the lunch order. I know the dinner combo items are 50%+ larger in quantity & includes a Vegetable Egg Roll. I have read several of the other reviews and suggest when ordering any form of Fried Rice ask to have what you want put in it. Ask for veggies to be added to your Chicken FR, or extra sauce to your protein items. No 1 Chinese always accommodates, just speak up, as no restaurant likes a...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. Ordered Hot and spicy beef it was hardly edible. The beef tasted musty and when i placed my order i asked what they put in theirs and was told scallions and peppers in a brown sauce. Not at all what i got. I got nothing but straight up onions and green bell pepper. No scallions,no hot peppers just a pile of onions and green bell peppers and about 5 little pieces of almost sandwich thin beef. The pig must have ran away when they were making the PORK fried rice because there wasn't an oink to be found. I've had better rice-a-roni. The rice was bland and tasteless. The egg roll i will say was ok. I ordered a small wonton soup and it was hardly even warm and i don't think it even had the meat filling in it whatever it was tasted sweet...that hit the trash too. I will say my Wife thought her General Tsao's chicken was ok, just ok. Her egg roll was decent too. She also said the crab rangoon wasn't the worst she has ever had. All in all this meal was terrible and of course they offered nothing to help fix the problem other than being told by the lady that called herself the manager that she would make sure the young lady that took my order would be educated on the menu more. Great! But that didn't help me out tonight at all. Such a poor excuse for Chinese food. Avoid unless there is absolutely no other restaurants or convenient stores open in town and you just have to get...
