Tops Friendly Markets — Local services in City of Tonawanda

Extremely over priced chain and usually under manned location. When they do have enough personel on site it's usually because they are training new cashiers or have added people to stock shelves. Many times I have walked out leaving a full cart when an assistant manager would attempt to direct me to self checkout ... I don't spend that type of money to then be forced to do their job, especially when all he was doing was reading a book and picking his nose at the register near self checkout and all other registers were closed?? I have seen meats displayed at this location that was worse than I had ever seen except once when my freezer broke down and all the meat started to rot ... this store loves to sell damaged fruits and vegetables repackaging it to hide mold and breaks in skin ... I have since moved and will never again shop at Tops ... there are too many other stores who wish to keep their customers happy ... even Sav-a-lot on a bad day is better than Tops ... I wish there were more Budwey and Wegmans around ... they...

Had maybe 5 things, went to self check out, cashier there was too busy playing on her phone and didn't even notice when an alert came up on the screen, had to tell her about and she just looked up and said "oh sorry" and went right back to playing with her phone! Then couldn't find the info for bulk candy that was from a display not 20 ft from the checkout, asked the cashier for assistance, she asked us if we knew the SKU and cost! Obviously not if we're asking for help. She played with her phone some more then entered some random number into the register instead of having an associate find out the correct info. It took over 15 minutes for us to cash out 5 things and this cashier couldn't be bothered to monitor her registers and actually do her job! Put the phone away and focus on what you're paid to do!!! One of the many reasons I shop at Wegmans instead, tops employees don't seem to care about doing their jobs and actually giving decent...

My visit there was fantastic because I had two gentlemen in Dairy Frozen helping me find things. The only reason you got 4 stars instead of 5 was because when I went to the self check that gentleman was miserable. He spoke aloud to another woman who work there telling her how he was so tired and he needed a nap I guess he should have slept before he came to work. I also ran into a woman in the store who is also very helpful. The only other problem I had was when I went to the meat department trying to find something that guy was nowhere to be found. So I guess the moral of the story is find a fellow shop or when you're looking for something because that woman helps me find what I was looking for in the meat department. All in all I guess my experience went fairly well. Thanks to the strange woman. And the two gentlemen and dairy Frozen. So thanks to all three of you for a experience that...
