STAY AWAY FROM Jossie Place Dominican Hair Salon IN MY OPINION. Here's why...
I kept my hair protected by wearing cornrows to encourage growth after cutting out from damage. I decided to finally get the salon experience after three years of braids. My Christmas gift to myself after a long terrible year, was to go to a Dominican Salon. I did a lot of research in my area to ensure the ultimate experience. Im very indecisive and hoped to choose wisely. I work too hard for my money to just give it away. The final choice was Jossie's only for the convenience. The reviews and ratings were just about the same as far as complaints and pictures. I am so disappointed in my choice. Let me tell you why. As I walked in, I didn't feel welcomed. Wasn't greeted, just told to come to the back and sit down at the sink. They said nothing to me as they talked so loud with each other while washing my hair. No apron was offered so I got splashed with water. My clothes and jacket was wet. I asked the lady for an apron and she said, "be nice to me" as if i was rude or wrong. I took the high road and apologized if was rude. I admit I was mad. The lady then put a towel over me as right as she turned the water off. To find out she was the owner (Jossie)! Im not going to elaborate on the sorry wash she did on my head. The energy was negative and should have not let her touch my head. But the wash sucked. After i sat under the dryer, another lady did my blow out. It took her about 8½ minutes to do. When she was almost finished, Jossie came and said your hair was so greasy. When she lady was finished, she said the same thing. So basically the Jossie was setting up the scene because she knew my hair was messed up. I turned and saw my hair I was so disappointed. Its flat greasy and lifeless. No kinda bounce or flow. Just dead. Then the stylist ran to the hand sanitizer and looked like she was disgusted with my hair. I paid the little 40 and walked out. They missed out on a loyal customer who tip very well. Their loss.
Now my experience was so horrible, I had to write this review. I will not recommend anyone to go there. They obviously have fans. I'm just not one. It was horrible from start to finish. I told her it looked bad and she did nothing to make it right. They Blamed me for my hair being too greasy. I would think the stylist would know how to degrease a client's hair being the professional. The sad part is the lady that washed my was Josie, the owner. They were so unprofessional and rude. Vibe was so negative and unwelcoming. Never again. And this is a true story. They ruined my only gift to myself along with my whole day. Take my advice and DON'T WASTE YOUR...
Read moreI've been going to Jossie's Place since 2014 and have always had a great experience with not only Jossie but other stylist that have done my hair and I'm very specific with what services I want and how I want my hair styled (ex:straight or curly) and I always specify if I want it wrapped or pin curled. You can bring your own or they will use their's.
I always ask the cost for services anywhere I go so I'm not sure why the other comments stated they were overcharged for services they didn't receive? Who pays for services they didn't receive? Not me.
I feel her prices are reasonable the service is Great and the overall professionalism is why I continue to come back weekly for all my hair care needs. Not to mention your not in there 3 and 4 hours like some other Dominican salons, were your sitting in the corner like a wet dog hoping your stylist realizes you've been waiting over 45 minutes to be rinsed out or blown out.
So in closing, Yes I would recommend Jossie's Place to my friends and family because my experience has been nothing short of Exceptional!
PS Be sure to visit her new location located in...
Read moreFaithful customers we used to be! Me and my daughter's went to Jossie Place for over 6 years with December 31, 2016 being my last visit. I loved the way my stylist pressed my hair. But here's my issue I don't mind paying but her prices changed each visit. I always just got my hair the same way washed and pressed nothing special with the $5.00 deep condition. As I said earlier I went on 12/31/2016 to get my hair done for a wedding I was in. Since I was in a hurry, I DIDN'T get the deep condition to shorten my time. So the price should have been $50.00 not $55.00. I was charged $65.00. I asked for what I didn't receive all the services I normally get? Jossie just looked crazy. I guess she was scraping for money this day. There went the$5.00 tip I always gave. I will never go back there. So be sure to ask how much it costs before going there the prices change according to what she feels like. My oldest daughter went 2 weeks ago when she was in town, paid the$45.00 for her wash and blue out, her hair poofed up before she got home 5 minutes away from the salon. We will never patronize her...
