Food was consistent great as always, i know its pandamic times and i am truly greatful to just see them open. But here is my biggest advise from a repetative happy customer who loves your food cuz you truly are the only nearest best jamican food. So, i still come over and come inside. You filled my plate up, you responded to all my question. Even pointed out to the menu when i was searching for a bi-fold menue. Glad you have it all the way up near the ceiling LoL and you even helped me select another order that i didn't even know i could order it that way. So yes you are great at that. I truly couldnt even barely hear your beautiful carebean accesent. Which will never stop me from returning as long as you understood my order. So Thank you for everything, BUT, to have such a big fat name as your business "SUN 🌞 SHINE" Carribean Restaurant. And to carry such a DULL damp welcome was such a turn off today 11/10/2020. In high school my very first position was part time Job as a cashier, we first learn to say Hello, I can help you in cashier #9. Etc. But no matter what, we greet each and every life that walks through. Even a puppy with owners. We say hello puppy 🐶 thry wag tails and we all smile. Next job part time position during college was Marriott where again we are trained to quickly greet. it was called the 5 second Rule. if my memory is accurate. That says, you must MUST greet your guest loud and clear before they even step 5 steps 🚶♂️towards you at the Front desk. So, my favorite carribean Restaurant. Just like your name Carrys it well. Bring some sunshine into your tone and say hello. The door squeeks and told you i walked in. Must you wait until a customer makes it to your counter to ask may i help you? Which i almost said where is your bathroom and walked back out. But i had to stop and think, we are all humans, who knows what kinda of a day she is going thru. Plus i drove 20 miles just to come have your delicious 😋 Carribean dish jerk Chicken. And my veggie plate was also excellent, kids loved it. Thank you for the recommendation. So i rated you 5 star because your food was excellent. Place was clean and covid friendly meaning sanitizer, 6ft rules signs etc. Best part was so dang on quick. Thank you! Thank you for your suggestion. Great upseller you are :-) Just greet your customers. We return because we love it and we want to feel welcomed if you just say hello. But silence until i hit your counter was not a sunshiny welcome approach. Else, i prefer a drive thru but you dont have it. But even a drive thru automated Artificial intelligence says hello, welcome be right with you. i am forced to drive to pick up my food from sunshine Carribean Restaurant. Its worth it all but your welcome approach must match your name. Oh oh let me not forget, thdy even have an app you can download which keeps count of your orders and rewards you after so many. I will download. So as customer, we come from all over, we pay, we say thank you and walk out but we get right on the phone and say omg i got me some good food Carebean style today but the service was terrible thru dont welcome you with greeting. You follow me, we eat, share our stories and move to the next one and always say thank you customers. Business owners, greet and say thank you...am out hope this give you full insight about this hole in the wall with great Carebean dishes. Its good 👍 go try it ASAP and if you dont get greeted dont get mad i told you 😘....
Read moreWhat started off as a decent jamaican restaurant turned into a bad experience after the second visit on the evening of 11/28/2011. My boyfriend and I ordered their jerk chicken dinner with salad, rice & peas and plantain...the food looked great initially...but when we started to eat the chicken, we realized it was pretty salty...it left a lingering taste on our palette and I refused to pay for something that wasn't good...so I called the waitress and I told her the chicken was salty...she asked me what would I like her to do, I said bring us oxtail instead...she went to the back where the cook/owner came out...he tried to explain how jerk chicken is cooked, how he never cooks with salt and how in his number of years doing this, he never had any complaints...I basically said that I can't speak on anyone else's experience but our own...and we know how jerk chicken is supposed to be made and more importantly, how it's supposed to taste being Jamaican ourselves...even if salt isn't use, the jerk seasoning itself has salt in it...so he came back out with 6 pieces of oxtail with tons of gravy and said he normally doesn't do this (as if he's doing us a favor) and told us to share it and leave the jerk chicken on the side...the oxtail, although better than the jerk chicken, was tough...nothing like the juicy and tender oxtail I'm used to... I know that these small Jamaican restaurants doesn't have the resources and options like the major restaurants, but I felt that he should have brought us two brand new dishes of food since the salty gravy from the chicken was also on our rice...and although we were charged the jerk chicken price which was two dollars cheaper than the oxtail price, with only 6 pieces of oxtail to share between my boyfriend and I, the money we payed for that meal was still not worth it...everyone knows that sometimes cooking mistakes are made where the food might be too fresh, too sweet or too salty...it happens! But I don't want to hear from the cook/owner about what everyone else allegedly has to say about their food...I want to hear how you're going to please the presently dissatisfied customers so that they'll come back again and spread the word to others about their restaurant...I definitely would not recommend anyone to go to this place unless you have absolutely no idea what good Jamaican food is supposed to taste like...as far as I'm concerned, my boyfriend and I agreed that the next time we come to Atlanta and want good Jamaican food, we will definitely not be coming back and our family and friends who live in ATL, we plan on telling them that they would be better off preparing their own food at home than wasting money at this place because this Sunshine Jamaica restaurant clearly did not...
Read moreThat two star is for the food only. The food is good and authentic, but the attitude from the owner is horrible.
First my family has patronized this place for at least the last five years. My step-father is Jamaican, so this is where we went he didn't feel like cooking.
A year ago they introduced a Rewards Program and from the start it's been an issue. The introduction for signing up is $5 off your next purchase, except the coupon never comes.
They also send coupons to your email periodically. In the emails it always saids you don't need the coupon and can show it on your phone, via the app.
Today I downloaded the app, ordered my food and went to pay. Except I was told by Carol, that I couldn't use the app to redeem the coupon. I look around to see where there could be a sign posted about this, as they have sign posted about all their rules, and there was nothing present.
I asked to speak to the owner because I knew it was out of Carol's hands. He proceeds to be rude about the situation and telling me, "You can't use the coupon, unless you have it printed! We use a third party company for the Rewards program and they send out those emails! That's how this is solved!"
I stood there in disbelief. You seriously think that I'm going to pay full price for both meals, when you never disclosed the information prior to ordering? Wow! With that attitude from him on the hunt for a new Jamaican restaurant! It's sad that you can't support the businesses in your own...
