Dollar General — Local services in Claymont

As far as a dollar store goes never had an issue, most items easy to find, and the staff although young and mostly teenagers (who use cell phones while working more than they should be) are for the most part happy to assist and knowledgeable about their inventory and locating specific items when you can't..

HOWEVER MY ONLY ISSUE

Just last night on 10/22/20, the cashier, a friendly young man, must have forgotten to put A bag of mine he packed, where I'd see it & I left without one bag... I got home & over $20 of items I had purchased, were missing..... Then realized an entire bag was unaccounted for..... I hightailed it back there & it was a ghost town , nobody answering the phone either..... Not placing the entire blame on the cashier but had he been slightly more attentive he would've seen my bag & alerted me. I plan on going there later this morning when they open & hopefully they took notice & put my bag to the side incase I return knowing that I paid for it..... only worry I have is getting the items I paid for & praying no issues come about as well as just hoping for smart and efficient action by seeking out camera footage of my visit last night. That'll be the quickest way to provide evidence that I left my paid for items behind and I can get my things and go about my business. Will update the situation...

Original review - Sept 2024 - I used to rock over to the Dollar General on Lancaster Ave and I always had to check the dates on my food after getting Coke Zero that expired months earlier and tasted like butt*. I never have that issue with this location. The shelves are always stocked too. It's like... an upgrade.

There was some like, redesign a few months ago but it kind of looks the same to me. The aisles are still only 6 inches wide, but I can't dock points for that. That's every Dollar general I've ever been to (And I've been to at least four, so put that in your pipe and smoke it). This location keeps their shelves stocked better than I'm used to, and I'm typically there right when they open. That's on point. The two dudes that work there in the morning are mad decent and friendly. Always asking me if I remembered coupons. In my opinion, that's so money.

The store is ok. Its a pretty new store. Just watch out for this one particular Manager (black guy, tall, i think he wears glasses) that always tries to cheat u out ur money by over pricing the merchandise or ringing up ur merchandise twice. Make sure u check your receipt. This manager is very sarcastic as well. He shouldn't even be a manager. And he doesn't like to double bag ur heavy items. This dude acts like he paid for the bags out of his check. Also they need to get better with restocking the shelves. They're always out...
